The Faux Fur Ear Warmers is a free crochet pattern and ideal for a quick project to keep your ears warm and cozy. It’s fun and easy to make too. Perfect for the Fall and Winter seasons.

Faux Fur yarn is currently trending. So many yarn companies sell different types of them. But not all are the same or easy to work with. Unless you knit with it, crocheting with it can be tricky.

But after many trials and errors of different types, I found the one, that is EASY to work with. It’s WeCrochet and Knit Picks’ Fable Fur yarn. You can get a lot more yardage than with some of the other ones. And it has a special band that holds the faux fur together that makes it easy to feel the stitches.

Yes, you can feel the stitches. It might be hard to see the stitches. But trust me that is ok. Cause you feel every stitch.

However, I found that using a wooden crochet hook with this type of yarn is the best choice. Metal hooks are too slippery for faux fur yarn.

So do yourself a favor and get yourself some WeCrochet and Knit Picks’ Fable Fur yarn. Did I mention how affordable it is? The quality is 100% awesome!

Instructions for Faux Fur Ear Warmers:

First, it is important to know that the pattern is written for an adult size head. But if you would like to change the pattern for a different head size it is actually easily done using this tutorial.

You can find a reference table here for head circumferences for different head sizes.

This pattern is made in rows, then twisted and then sewn together. This pattern is written as an adult pattern. The width of the ear warmer is 3 inches, so if you want to make it thinner, you will need to reduce the amount of chains you crochet in the beginning.

Please note that this type of yarn can be HARD to SEE the stitches. BUT it can be EASY to FEEL stitches.

    Ch 7

R1: starting from the 2nd ch from the hook, 1 sc in each st, turn

    R2 – 30 (measures 19 inches): 1 sc in each st, turn

Now twist the flat piece 180 degrees and use the mattress stitch to sew the first and last round together.

Sewing the Faux Fur Ear Warmers

Use a tapestry needle for sewing. It’s easier to insert into the needle if you cut off some of the faux fur of the yarn tail first.

Fasten off and weave in your ends.
