Christmas Time has always been special for me since I’m from Germany. Although I opened presents on Christmas Eve when I grew up, we also decorated the Christmas Tree in the morning of Christmas Eve. That is a very common tradition, as we typically use real Christmas trees that should last till January 6th.
My parents and brother in Germany always decorated the Christmas Tree with elegant silver glass ornaments (many from Lauscha where most handmade glass-blown ornaments are from). But although I miss Germany and its Christmas Traditions, I also love the new ones I learned and made in the US. Now, I use an artificial Christmas Tree we put up the day after Thanksgiving and decorate it with many handmade ornaments, just like this Icicle Ornament Bauble.
Icicles Christmas Ornament Bauble Ball
This Icicles Ornament Bauble Ball is made with mostly single crochet stitches, some increases and decreases, a modified Spike Stitch plus a couple of color changes. Easy! The modified Spike Stitch really makes this Ornament special.
Yes, the modified spike stitch looks intimidating, but don’t let it fool you. It’s actually much easier than it looks. PLUS you get a full video tutorial to guide you through it, too.
This pattern used to be a mystery crochet along and is broken up like that accordingly. In fact, this ornament was part of 3 Mystery Crochet Along Ornaments; the other 2 ornaments are the Classic Ornament and LED Light Ornament.
It’s time to get creative, so let’s get started!
