How to crochet Part 3 of the Purple Passion Project Purse Crochet Along
- 8 in height (without counting the handle x 18 in diameter inches if lying flat
- botton of bag is 5 inches x 12 inches
Stitches used (US terms) for all Parts 1 thru 3:
Click HERE to learn these basic stitches
- dc = double crochet
- ch = chain
- sc = single crochet
- blo = back loop only
- sl st = slip stitch
- fp = front post
- bp = back post
- thermal stitch
- Linked tr = Linked Treble Crochet
- Tri Square = 3 FPDC, 3 BPDC
- Thermal stitch
3 Linked tr x 1 round = 1 square inch
You will now start with the linked treble crochet.
Round 1 – 2: Ch 4, 1 Linked TC in each st all around, sl st to the first st (like you see in the video HERE) (114 sts)
You will make the handle in rows, starting on one side and then using buttons on the other side to connect it.
Row 1: skip 9 sts, ch 4, 1 Linked tr in the next 28 sts, ch 4, turn (28 sts)
Row 2 – 12: 1 Linked tr in each st, ch 4, turn (28 sts)
In the next row we will make button holes using simple treble crochets to create gaps.
Row 13: *1 Linked tr in the next 6 sts, 1 tr (use the same as a ch 4 in the beginning of a row of linked tr), repeat from * till the end
Row 14: 1 Linked tr in each st (28 sts)
Fasten off and weave in the ends.
Adding the buttons
Slip the handle over to the other side of the bag and align it evenly. That will help you see where to add the buttons. Now using some of the leftover yarn from the Caron Big Cake, sew on the buttons in the correct spots.
Fasten off and weave in the ends.
Now you are done and can enjoy your new Purple Passion Project Purse.
