What will you need for the 4-in-1 CUPID Crochet Pattern LIVE Crochet Along?
Click the links below to see which materials I used exactly!
Important to note about the yarn mentioned:
No need to use the exact yarn I used. Use what you can from your stash. That is literally what I did. I used what I had in my stash, hence the long list of yarns, as I wanted to use the “perfect” color for each item.
- Loops & Threads (worsted, 127.5g/285yd) – from Michael’s
- 15625 (yellow)
- 01810 (light blush)
- 15705 (red)
- 01613 (dark gold)
- Big Twist (worsted, 170g/380yd) – from JoAnn’s
- white
- Premier Yarns Minikins Yarn (sport, 50g/158yrd)
- brick
- white
- ballerina
- black
- Lion Brand North Pole Yarn Co Candy Cake (worsted, 100g/175g)
- white/silver
- –> This yarn can be substituted with just white
- 3mm hook
- scissors
- tapestry needle
- polyfill
- 2 Gauge Floral wire (this one)
- 22 gauge wire (for halo)
- wire cutter and pliers (get set here)
- plastic eyes (2 x 8mm)
- 1cm button for backpack
- school glue (to harden wings)
- hot glue (to make end of thick wire less pointy)
Can I use a different yarn?
Yes, you can switch to a different yarn brand, even a different fiber if you prefer.
I recommend any worsted yarn for this project. Pick from your yarn stash if you can.
But it’s an ideal project as a yarn stash buster. Use leftover yarn if you have any. I would recommend sticking with either of my above recommendations.
What colors should I pick?
I recommend any of the mentioned solid colors.
Either stick with the colors I picked or pick your favorite colors for cupid, the backpack and bow and arrow you’ll work on. Remember you will need 1 skein for some color and less for others.
Can I use a different hook size?
Yes, you can pick a different size. Just remember the pattern will be a bit smaller or larger unless you focus on the gauge provided.

Part 2: Toga, Wings and Halo
The LIVE Tutorial for Part 2 will be available on 1/30/25 HERE on Youtube.

Written Pattern – Toga, Wings, Halo
Be sure to share your progress pictures in our Facebook group using the hashtag #LIVECALJAN25 so we can celebrate you.
Halo
Wrap the dark golden color around the 22 gauge wire as long as you prefer, then bend the wire around something to turn it into a circle, then twist the touching wire such that it hold the yarn at the same time. Now cut the shorter piece of the wire, but keep the longer piece straight and push it into the top of the head/hair.
Toga
Using white yarn (be aware the gauge is different for this part as the yarn brand is different)
Start with the pants.
If you want to skip the pants and go right into the skirt part start with R after making 36 chs and turn them into a loop (keep 36 sts).
Make 2 pant legs
R1: ch 24, make into loop keeping 24 sts, 1 sc per ch (24 sts)
R2-3: 1 sc per st
R4: after finishing the 2nd pant leg, pull loop from hook through the next st (after fastening off) on the first leg, ch 1, 1 sc into chain, 1 sc st around the 2nd pant leg, 1 sc into ch made (again), 1 sc in each st around the 1st pant leg (50 sts)
R5-7: 1 sc per st
R8: (1 inv sc dec, 1 sc in 23 sts) 2 times (48 sts)
R9: (1 inv sc dec, 1 sc in 10 sts) 4 times (44 sts)
R10: (1 inv sc dec, 1 sc in 9 sts) 4 times (40 sts)
R11: (1 inv sc dec, 1 sc in 8 sts) 4 times (36 sts), TURN
R12: in the blo (from your point of view – meaning the outer loop) 1 sc per st
R13: 1 sc per st
R14: (1 sc in 5 sts, 2 sc) 6 times (42 sts)
R15: (1 sc in 6 sts, 2 sc) 6 times (48 sts)
R16: (1 sc in 7 sts, 2 sc) 6 times (54 sts)
R17: (1 sc in 8 sts, 2 sc) 6 times (60 sts)
R18: (1 sc in 9 sts, 2 sc) 6 times (66 sts)
R19: (1 sc in 10 sts, 2 sc) 6 times (72 sts)
R20-24: 1 sc per st, fasten off
Now go back to R11 and use the leftover loop (you used the blo for R12)
Put the toga onto the doll’s body to see WHERE to add the first st: right below 1 st to the left (as a righty) of where the right arm (as a righty) is
R12: 1 sc in leftover loop for 10 sts, turn
R13: 1 sc dec, 1 sc in 8 sts, turn (9 sts)
R14: 1 sc in 7 sts, 1 sc dec, turn (8 sts)
R15: 1 sc dec, 1 sc in 6 sts, turn (7 sts)
R16: 1 sc in 5 sts, 1 sc dec, turn (6 sts)
R17: 1 sc dec, 1 sc in 4 sts, turn (5 sts)
R18: 1 sc in 3 sts, 1 sc dec, turn (4 sts)
R19: 1 sc dec, 1 sc in 2 sts, turn (3 sts)
R20: 1 sc, 1 sc dec, turn (2 sts)
R21: 1 sc, 2 sc, turn (3 sts)
R22: 2 sc, 1 sc in 2 sts, turn (4 sts)
R23: 1 sc in 3 sts, 2 sc, turn (5 sts)
R24: 2 sc, 1 sc in 4 sts, turn (6 sts)
R25: 1 sc in 5 sts, 2 sc, turn (7 sts)
R26: 2 sc, 1 sc in 6 sts, turn (8 sts)
R27: 1 sc in 7 sts, 2 sc, turn (9 sts)
R28: 2 sc, 1 sc in 8 sts, turn (10 sts)
Now put the toga back on the body and sew on the back of the just-made strap.
Use a piece of the dark golden yarn and wrap it around the waist as a belt.
Wings (2)
Using white or the white/silver yarn (like I did)
ALL sl sts are made into a magic ring, if that is too hard make a LARGE first chain instead before starting the pattern
Close magic ring at the VERY END
R1: Make a Magic Ring (MR), ch 17, sk 2 sts, 1 sc per st, sl st to MR, turn
ALL sc sts are in BLO from now on
R2: 1 sc in 15 sts, ch 2, sk 2 sts, 1 sc in each st back until MR, sl st into MR, turn
R2: 1 sc in 14 sts, ch 2, sk 2 sts, 1 sc in each st back until MR, sl st into MR, turn
R3: 1 sc in 13 sts, ch 2, sk 2 sts, 1 sc in each st back until MR, sl st into MR, turn
R4: 1 sc in 12 sts, ch 2, sk 2 sts, 1 sc in each st back until MR, sl st into MR, turn
R5: 1 sc in 11 sts, ch 2, sk 2 sts, 1 sc in each st back until MR, sl st into MR, turn
R6: 1 sc in 10 sts, ch 2, sk 2 sts, 1 sc in each st back until MR, sl st into MR, turn
R7: 1 sc in 9 sts, ch 2, sk 2 sts, 1 sc in each st back until MR, sl st into MR, turn
R8: 1 sc in 8 sts, ch 2, sk 2 sts, 1 sc in each st back until MR, sl st into MR, turn
R9: 1 sc in 7 sts, ch 2, sk 2 sts, 1 sc in each st back until MR, sl st into MR, turn
R10: 1 sc in 6 sts, ch 2, sk 2 sts, 1 sc in each st back until MR, sl st into MR, turn
R11: 1 sc in 5 sts, ch 2, sk 2 sts, 1 sc in each st back until MR, sl st into MR, turn
Pull the yarn end to close the magic ring, fasten it off, and leave 1 long (about 1/2 foot) to sew on the wings.
Use plastic wrap to lay the wings on for drying.
Add school glue all over the front and back sides of the wings, and rub the glue in with your fingers.
Lay the wings to dry, and flip them when one side is dry. This may take 4-8 hours.
Sew on the wings like the image shows (since the backpack needs to fit in between).
Part 3: Hearts, Heart Backpack, Bow, Arrow and Assembly
The LIVE Tutorial for Part 3 will be available on 1/31/25 HERE on Youtube.

Written Pattern – Hearts, Heart Backpack, Bow, Arrow and Assembly
Be sure to share your progress pictures in our Facebook group using the hashtag #LIVECALJAN25 so we can celebrate you.
Tiny hearts
I made them in 3 colors (red, pink, white) using #2 yarn. Optionally you can use #4 worsted yarn but it will make them bigger.
Make a MR, add all the following to the ring: ch 3, 3 tr, 3 dc, ch 1, 1 tr, ch 1, 3 dc, 3 tr, ch 3, sl st to the ring, pull yarn end to close the ring, fasten off. Leave about 1/2 foot for sewing loops on the back (about 3) while holding a pen or something similar to the back of the yarn and sew loops around it. Those loops will allow you to add your bow onto the hearts and swap them out whenever you like. You can also omit this option and leave the hearts as they are and add them to the backpack “to give them out to friends”.
Heart Backpack
Using red yarn (worsted)
R1: MR, ch 1, 6 sc, close the ring
R2: (1 sc, 2 sc) 3 times (9 sts)
R3: (1 sc in 2 sts, 2 sc) 3 times (12 sts)
R4: (1 sc in 3 sts, 2 sc) 3 times (15 sts)
R5: (1 sc in 4 sts, 2 sc) 3 times (18 sts)
R6: (1 sc in 5 sts, 2 sc) 3 times (21 sts)
R7: (1 sc in 6 sts, 2 sc) 3 times (24 sts)
R8-10: 1 sc per st
Quick note: [2 dc] means 2 dc in the same st
R11: 1 sc, [2 dc], [2 tr], [2 dc], 1 sl st in 3 sts, [2 dc], [2 tr], [2 dc], 1 sc in 3 sts, [2 dc], [2 tr], [2 dc], 1 sl st in 2 sts, ch 8, 1 sl st, [2 dc], [2 tr], [2 dc], 1 sc in 2 sts (24 sts)
Fasten off
Have a long yarn tail, make a slip knot and attach it to the outer tr st on the back side of the backpack (where you made the ch 8 for the button loop), now crochet an icord *by wrapping the yarn end around the hook (2 loops on hook), yarn over (with running yarn) and pull through, repeat from * until the icord is about 4 inches non-stretched (video will show this clearly).
Fasten off and sew the icord to the bottom tip of the heart backpack. Repeat the icord strap for the other side (also attaching to the outermost tr st on the back but the other side of the backpack, so there is one on the left and one on the right).
Sew on a button to the front center of the backpack.
Arrow
Using the dark golden yarn color and about 4 inches of the #2 gauge wire
First make a MR and add a *chain of 4, sl st to the 2nd ch and 1 sc in the 3rd and 4th ch, sl st to the ring, repeat from * one time, close the ring, fasten off (don’t cut yarn yet)
Now add the small amount of hot glue to the back the V shape (back of the arrow), add the wire onto the glue, let it dry, now wrap the yarn around the wire until the end.
Use hot glue to hold the yarn in place and make a small ball of glue/yarn in the front for safety.
Now you can add one of the hearts around the arrow tip you just made.
Bow
Using the dark golden yarn color, about 7-8 inch #2 wire piece, the pliers, and #2 white yarn
Add a small amount of hot glue to each side of the wire (to make a ball for safety) and let it dry.
With the golden color
R1: MR, ch 1, 5 sc, close the ring
R2: 1 sc in each st
Repeat R2 until the wire fits inside completely. Close the end by weaving through the front loops of the last 5 sts, fasten off.
Now use the pliers, to bend the ends into a small spiral (same but mirrored direction on each side).
Bend the small area right after about 90 degrees so it finally looks like a bow. See the pictures for reference.
Sew a small piece of white yarn to each side of the spiral to complete the bow.
Hold the arrow onto the bow and sew small loops in the center of the bow around the arrow to keep it on the bow.
Put on the backpack onto the cupid (around the wings and arms).
Push the arrow underneath the belt and then wrap the white yarn around the arrow to keep it all in place on the front.
