Access to the PDF Version of the Pattern
The fastest way to get access to the PDF – and also the most affordable way is at the link below for just $14 which includes the entire written pattern (regular and reversible), as well as the graphs, 20 bonus swappable images (regular and reversible) in case you don’t want a Christmas Themed Blanket but still a bookshelf blanket and 8 additional tutorials and 10 videos.
However, you can also get the pattern
You will save MORE if you get this pattern right on my website HERE.
Regular vs Reversible Overlay Mosaic Crochet
Furthermore, you can crochet this entire blanket with regular overlay mosaic crochet or reversible overlay mosaic crochet. Pick which one you prefer. I’ll teach you both so no worries. I’ll teach you how to crochet both techniques with a photo, written, and video tutorial. I also added a new tutorial to change colors within a row for Overlay Mosaic Crochet. Those who get the PDF will also get an extra video for the reversible technique with color changes.
Be aware that one can’t just use the regular pattern to make it reversible. The reversible pattern has 3 extra stitches includes to make sure to back side is actually reversible.
And finally, you just need to pick your colors to create this beautiful Christmas Bookshelf blanket to cuddle by the Christmas tree with Christmas lights and Christmas decor all around you to feel the holiday spirit.

Learn how to Mosaic Crochet with this Pattern
You’ll get access to both regular (images only in the front) overlay or reversible overlay mosaic crochet tutorials before we get started so you can pick which version you want to work on:

- Learn Reversible Overlay Mosaic Crochet in Rows HERE
- How to Change Colors in Mosaic Crochet WITHIN a Row (so 3+ Colors) – Tutorial
Remember only the PDF Pattern includes both the Regular and Reversible Pattern (and 20 Bonus Images for Swapping) adfree. The free-to-view pattern is only the regular overlay mosaic crochet pattern.

What is Mosaic Crochet?
Mosaic Crochet is a very fun design technique that has NO color changes, USUALLY. You will simply cut your yarn at the end of the row and start over above stitch 1 with a new color. You will only need single crochet stitches as well as double crochet stitches for a typical Mosaic Crochet pattern.
However, for this cozy blanket, you will change colors twice per row (unless you want to change more than that). But no worries, the color change is easy, and I even teach you how to hide your yarn ends if you don’t want to weave them in. I would consider this simple pattern an advanced beginner or intermediate skill level for the regular blanket and intermediate to advanced for the reversible blanket.
I personally used 3 colors for this blanket – 2 for the bookshelves and 1 for the projects within the bookshelf. Now, let me break down how this pattern and crochet along will work.
How will this CAL work? Any Support?
Easy. You simply will follow each regular overlay mosaic crochet part once released – you have 1 month to complete each section of the pattern before the next one gets released and added to the pattern. The schedule is broken down below. Make sure to sign up for early release emails above and of course join my Facebook group for release info and to show off your creations.
While you work on the parts of the pattern, I encourage you to share your progress pictures in my Facebook group using the hashtag #BookshelfBlanketCAL26
And if you need any support or help during the Crochet Along, please tag me in my Facebook group so I can find and answer your question(s).

What will you need for the Christmas Bookshelf Blanket Mosaic Blanket Pattern Crochet Along?
Click the links below to see which materials I used exactly!
Make sure to read the info below on how to get the YARN with a DISCOUNT!
- Herrschners Supreme Worsted Yarn (100g/169yd) – worsted (#4) yarn
- 13-14 skeins of Porcelain (main color) – Color C
- 12-13 skeins of Carmine (background) – Color B
- 6 skeins of Really Red (bookshelf frame and shelves) – Color A
The numbers above are estimates calculated according to many testersโ finished projects – the lower number is for the regular version and the higher number is for the reversible version.

COLOR SWAPPING
Remember, you can change the colors of each color I used in case any of them are out of stock.
For example, the porcelain color can be swapped with pearl, carmine can be swapped with penny, and really red can be swapped with ripe raspberry. JUST AS AN EXAMPLE. You can pick of cours,e any other colors, or even MORE than 3 colors. Check out the testers’ images on Ravelry for some examples/ideas.
Get the YARN at a Discount!
If you get the 5-skein yarn Supreme Worsted Yarn BUNDLES, then you’ll save about $1 per skein. Make sure you check above how much yarn we actually used for this blanket, and then figure out which 5-skein yarn bundles are best for you.
Can I use a different yarn?
Yes, you can switch to a different yarn brand, even a different fiber if you prefer. Stick with worsted yarn.
But I do recommend Herrschners Supreme Worsted Yarn for this project, especially because you can get the yarn at a discount as mentioned above!
What colors should I pick?
I recommend any of the 3 solid colors, or as many colors as you like. But you can also use a solid with a multi-colored variegated yarn.
Can I use a different hook size?
Yes, you can pick a different size. Just remember, the pattern will be a bit smaller or larger unless you focus on the gauge provided.

Quick reminder, you can get the PDF of the entire pattern at the button below, in case you don’t want to deal with ads, need a more zoomed-in version of the graph, get the reversible pattern, and also the bonus images or work ahead/at your own pace.
Pattern Notes
Using Overlay Crochet in Rows, follow the graph to crochet this pattern, or the written pattern.
Graph info:
All pixels without an X are made with SC in the BLO (besides the first row, which is a regular sc)
All pixels with an X are made with MDC which are DC sts in the FLO 2 rows down to the same color!
Cut yarn each row, start over at the same location (right) for each row (lefties follow the graph only and start on the left – if you follow the written pattern, it will be mirrored).
EACH row starts and finishes with an EDGE STITCH (1 sc per edge) – included in the pattern. Color Changes are mentioned in the pattern with the / and \ symbols.
(/) = Color Switch from Color A to Color B (even rows) or C (odd rows)
(\) = Color Switch from Color B (even rows) or C (odd rows) to Color A
PART 1: Rows 1-22
