This Easy Crochet Boomerang Scarf is easily made using this free crochet pattern plus video tutorial and 3 repeating color stripes.
A scarf can have more than just a purpose to keep you warm. It can also look elegant and make you feel like the most beautiful person on the planet.
This scarf does that for me!
I was lucky enough that I was able to attend Creativation in Phoenix in 2019 and talk to the amazing staff at the Lion Brand booth. While I was there they gave me 3 gorgeous skeins of the new yarn called Beautiful You.
This yarn has the most amazing bold colors and has a cord like texture with s-twisted strands. It actually makes it easy to work with even though it’s a weight 2 yarn.
The finished Crocheted Boomerang Scarf feels it has a cotton-like drape that makes the it feel airy but still wears nicely around your neck or shoulders.
The Easy Boomerang Scarf has the shape of a boomerang where one side gets decreased and the other side increases by 1 stitch per round. It features 3 bold, but girly pink, purple and burgundy colors to start the spring and summer of right.
You can wear the Easy Boomerang Scarf is a normal scarf around your neck having a triangle shape in the front or you simply

So let’s get right into what you will need in order to make the Easy Boomerang Scarf.
How to Crochet the Easy Boomerang Scarf
- Lion Brand Beautiful You yarn in the colors:
- 4.0mm hook
- tapestry needles
4 dc’s x 2 rows = 1 square inch
Stitches used (US terms):
- ch = chain
- dc = double crochet
- ATC (height of dc) = Alternative Turning Chain in height of a double crochet
- inc = increase
- dec = decrease
- sl st = slip stitch
27 inches at the widest width x 57 inches at the straightest length (looking at the picture above, it’s the right side that was measured)
This pattern follows a 10-row repeat with colors changes every 5th row. To make the repeat easier to write out and understandable, I will call chains and chain spaces as stitches. I also did not use a Ch3 as a turning chain, but instead used the Alternative Turning chain as the first counted stitch every row.
I started with color Lilac Chiffon, then switched to Magenta Haze and then to Zinfandel. I repeated these color changes for 7 sets (total of 21 stripes each having 5 rows).
R1: [1 ATC, 2 dc] in 2nd ch from hook, 1 dc in each st until last 2 sts, 1 dc
R2: [1 ATC and 1 dc] as dec, dc in each st until last st, 3 dc in the same st, turn
R3: repeat R1
R4: repeat R2
R5: [ATC, ch1, 1 dc] in the same st, *sk 1 st, ch 1, 1 dc in the next st, repeat from * until the last 2 sts, 1 dc dec, turn
R6: repeat R2
R7: repeat R1
R8: repeat R2
R9: repeat R1
R10: [1 ATC and 1 dc] as dec, * sk 1 sts, ch 1, 1 dc in the next st, repeat from * until the last st, [ch 1, 2 dc] in the same st, turn
Now repeat rows 1 through 10 until you have 105 rows having changed colors every 5th row.
Fasten off and weave in all the ends.
