This heart filet crochet drawstring bag is perfect for keeping small items from getting lost. This is a beginner-friendly crochet pattern.
Yesterday I was fumbling around my purse for my chapstick. I knew it was in there but it had made its way down to the bottom and was nowhere to be found. When I got back home, I decided I was going to crochet a solution for myself: a small crochet drawstring bag.
So I got to work on this cute little crochet drawstring bag. I haven’t lost my chapstick in the bottom of my purse since! In fact, I keep all my small things in this now and it’s such a lifesaver. Tweezers, nail clippers, extra hair ties, and my chapstick.
Make one of the crochet drawstring bags for yourself or as a gift. There are so many ways to use one of these little bags. Plus they work up quickly and they’re great stash busters as well!

Ch 44
R1: starting from the 2nd ch from the hook, 1 sc in each ch (go through the back bump)
You are now going in rounds, around the single crochet row. (43 dc on the first side, 42 on the other side, to have 85 sts in total per round)
You’ll be using 3 DC Filet Crochet. The graph for this pattern is on the following page. The graph is a flat version of the crochet rounds.
Each rounds starts with a Ch 3 or an ATC (either of them count as a stitch).
Furthermore, each dark pixel equals 1 dc each in 2 sts. Each white pixel equals ch 1, sk 1, 1 dc in the next st.
Each round ends with a slip stitch to the first st.

Using both strands of the yarn, crochet an icord about 35 inches long.
Crochet the icord like this: crochet a slip knot with both strands, hold both strand in your hand, *wrap one strand (same one each time) from the front to the back around your hook, yarn over with the 2nd strand, and pull through the first loop on your hook, repeat from until you reach the length
Fasten off and weave in your ends.
Optionally, you can add a lining for the bag. I used my sewing machine and 2 pieces of fabric 11×14 inches with a ¼ seam allowance around the 2 long sides and 1 short side (right side of the fabric facing each other). Then fold the opening one time around and sew a 1-inch seam allowance around it. Lastly, sew the lining to the bag.
Weave your icord through the holes in round 26.
Enjoy your new drawstring pouch.
That’s it! Your heart filet crochet drawstring bag is now finished and ready to wear!
