How to choose the perfect stitch for a crochet blanket?
When choosing the perfect stitch for a blanket project we need to think about a few basic things.
Firstly, we need to consider the season the blanket is going to be used in. If it is summer/springtime or a warmer country, you need to pick more lacy crochet stitch. This will create a light and airy crochet blanket that can be draped over your shoulders or on your lap on a cooler evening. For wintertime or cold countries, I would suggest using more solid stitches with minimal gaps or thick stitches that create double layers.
Secondly, let’s talk about the ease of stitch. As I mentioned above, blankets are huge crochet projects. That’s why you need to pick a crochet stitch you enjoy doing. You can have the best intentions of making a blanket in a fancy crochet stitch that will look amazing. However, if you find the stitch difficult or don’t enjoy working in it, chances are your blanket will sit on the unfinished pile for a little while.
There are many different sizes for a blanket. So find one that suits your needs. You find some examples for a few blanket measurements here.
