Summary of Episode 21 with Erin

We started off chatting about how Erin has started crocheting. Like many crochet designers, she was taught to crochet by her mum. She was a very crafty person who used to make rugs and Erin begged her to teach her how to crochet.

Crochet and crafts have always been part of Erin’s life, she also started a knitting and crochet club in high school!

She also uses her skills to also crochet projects for charity which I absolutely love. And of course Erin crochet cute items for family and all her nieces and nephews as well as her own kids.

Erin’s business evolved from making finished items like hats and baskets into designing. She was not enjoying making the same thing over and over again.

I was amazed to learn that Erin used to be NICU nurse as well as a busy mom as well as a crochet designer. However, Erin has stepped back from NICU nursing and now invests most of her time into crochet design.

Erin shared a really heart-warming story about how she has come up with her business name. It is a beautiful backstory which carries a special message.

There are a lot of tutorials and stitch patterns on Erin’s website and YouTube because Erin loves learning new things and passing on her knowledge onto her community.

Erin’s specialty is homeware patterns like pillows, blankets and wall hangings. I love the community feel that Erin’s crochet alongs have. She has hosted a few with a group of designers as well as on her own. They incorporate different techniques like corner to corner or overlay mosaic crochet.

When I asked Erin about her other hobbies, she revealed she loves outdoors, hiking and she is very involved with her local church.

Worsted weight, size J hook is Erin’s favorite choices when it comes to craft tools.

I laughed when Erin shared a funny story that involved her kids, their friends and yarn. I can really relate to that.

However, you can also grab her designs from her shops on Ravelry or Etsy.

Erin’s latest design uses mosaic crochet which has gained a lot of popularity over the last few months.
