These Santa gnome crochet lip balm holders make excellent stocking stuffers or gift toppers. A lip gloss or ChapStick tube fits perfectly inside and it includes a necklace so you can keep it close at hand.
We’ve finally reached day 24, the final day of the 2023 Advent Calendar Mystery Crochet Along! Each day, from December 1st through December 24th, I’ve shared one free pattern for a crochet Christmas gift. Hopefully, you have had all kinds of crafty fun and discovered lots of great patterns to inspire your holiday crocheting. But if you need a last-minute stocking stuffer idea, I’m here with one more free crochet pattern.
These cute lip balm holders make perfect last-minute gifts, since they work up quickly. Even if it’s Christmas Eve, you still have time to whip up one (or several) of these to tuck into stockings on Christmas morning. You can hang it on a necklace, as written, or add an ornament hook to hang on your tree. You could also attach them to a keyring to make a cute handbag accessory.
They’re the perfect size for a standard tube of lip balm. But depending on the size of your lip balm, or if you’d like to fit a different item, like a lipstick tube, you could go up or down one hook size and/or add or subtract rows in the lip balm holder.
For my little gnome chapstick holder, I used Premier Cotton Sprout, a soft worsted-weight cotton yarn. The best part is if you use coupon code DecMCAL20, you can get 20% off Cotton Sprout through December 24, 2023. But if you prefer, you can also use leftover scraps of another type of yarn, as long as it’s worsted weight.
Even if you’re a beginner crocheter, I encourage you to try this cute pattern. It’s made almost entirely in the single crochet stitch, with simple increases and decreases. And you can also follow along with the video tutorial for further details.
Merry Christmas and happy crocheting!
