About This Free Crochet Word Search

Okay… how did you do? 😄

I wanted to create something a little different for my crochet friends. We spend plenty of time actually crocheting, but sometimes it’s fun to put the hook down for a few minutes and still do something crochet-related.

And because you choose the words, you can play this crochet word search over and over again without getting the exact same puzzle.

You could fill it with basic words like yarn, hook, chain and stitch, challenge yourself with crochet terminology, or even create a themed puzzle using granny squares, amigurumi, Tunisian crochet, mosaic crochet and your favorite stitches.

How to Play the Crochet Word Search

Playing is easy — even if you don’t normally play online games.

Enter your name and add the crochet words you want hidden inside your puzzle. You can use the ones I already added or replace them with your own. Then choose Easy, Medium or Hard and click Generate New Puzzle.

Your puzzle will stay hidden until you’re ready. Click Start Game and the timer begins.

To find a word, click the first letter and then the last letter. Found it? It gets marked off your list. 🎉

Need to run for more coffee, let the dog out… or take a bathroom break? 😂 Hit Pause. The puzzle disappears and your timer stops until you click Continue.

There are also Hint and Reveal options if you get stuck. And when you’re finished, you can print your puzzle or save a branded copy as a PDF.

Then just generate another one and try again!

Why Play a Crochet Word Search?

Besides being FUN? 😂

Word searches make you slow down and really look at the words in front of you. And when all those words are crochet-related, it’s also a fun way to recognize crochet terminology you see in patterns and tutorials.

It could be especially fun for newer crocheters who are still getting familiar with all the crochet lingo. Start with words like chain, hook, yarn, single crochet and granny square, then make the next puzzle harder as you learn more.

And there’s something to be said for giving your brain a little crochet-themed break, too. The Craft Yarn Council has surveyed thousands of knitters and crocheters about the benefits they experience from yarn crafts, including stress reduction, improved mood, concentration and problem solving.
