The reader in your life will love to use this cute little worm crochet bookmark in their favorite book. These worms are bendable, which makes them ideal projects to use as fidget toys as well.
It’s day 15, and that means we’re kicking off a third week of the 2023 Advent Calendar Mystery Crochet Along (MCAL). Each day, from December 1st through December 24th, I’ll post one of 24 quick crochet projects for last-minute Christmas gifts right here on my blog. Come back every day to find a new blog post and discover a surprise pattern for free! Or if you want to get all of these patterns right now (plus 6 extras), you can learn how to purchase the ebook below.
Today’s pattern is the cutest thing! I’m sharing a super quick crochet pattern for a springy little crocheted worm bookmark. They work up in no time, so you can make a whole bunch for stocking stuffers, classroom gifts, or party favors. You could even give them away as random acts of crochet kindness.
In addition to keeping your place in all of the great books you’re reading, the bendable, tactile bodies of these little worms are perfect to use as a stress reliever or sensory toy. They would also work as cute crochet worry worms. Their cute little faces invite kids to tell their worries, helping them process big emotions. There are so many fun ways you could use them.
Even beginner crocheters can easily create this adorable little bookworm. It uses only basic crochet stitches, mostly single crochet with simple increases and decreases. Plus, the best thing about this MCAL is that it includes a full video tutorial for every pattern, including this one. So if you get stuck, don’t worry. You can just follow along with the video and learn helpful tips to help you complete the pattern.
You may wonder what is the best yarn to use for this project. For the bookmark shown here, I used Premier Just Yarn Worsted, a super affordable worsted-weight acrylic yarn. At just $7 for a 400g skein, it’s an amazing deal! But if your budget is tight, this adorable crochet bookmark uses only small amounts of yarn. That makes it the perfect project to use up your scraps. That way, you can make all different colors of bookworm bookmarks for your recipients to choose from.
Now it’s time for the fun to begin!
