This simple, cute crochet scrubby pattern makes the perfect useful gift. It also includes a pattern for a mesh drawstring bag to store the scrubbies or use as a soap saver.
It’s day 13 of the 2023 Advent Calendar Mystery Crochet Along. I’ve been having so much fun sharing free crochet patterns for last-minute Christmas gifts, and there are lots more to come! Each day from December 1st through December 24th, I’ll be publishing one new blog post with a free pattern for a crochet gift idea, right here on my site. You never know what the pattern will be, so make sure you visit every day to reveal the surprise!
Today I’m sharing a scrubby crochet pattern which is a great project for your practically-minded loved ones who appreciate useful and sustainable gifts. This set of crochet cotton face scrubbies comes with its own little mesh bag, which you can use to hold the scrubbies or as a soap saver bag.
These little scrubbies would be the perfect addition to a spa gift package. You can even support a small business by buying a nice handmade soap bar and putting the whole thing together as a thoughtful gift. Make them in neutral white or cream, calming pastel tones, or cheery bright colors to suit your recipient’s taste. You may even like this pattern so much that you’ll make a set for your personal use.
The facial scrubbies themselves are created using linked double crochet stitches, which are actually simple stitches that are a variation on the classic double crochet. This special stitch eliminates gaps to make a thick crochet scrubbie that will hold up well to everyday use. They’re sturdy enough to be used as kitchen scrubbies as well.
For my scrubby set, I used Premier Cotton Sprout, an incredibly smooth cotton yarn that’s easy to care for. If you want to try it, you can use the coupon code DecMCAL20 for 20% off Cotton Sprout until December 24, 2023. But for your own scrubbies, you can also experiment with other worsted weight cotton yarn options, like Lily Sugar ‘n Cream, for example. These crochet scrubbies don’t take much yarn, so you could even use scrap yarn. There really are so many possibilities for this pattern.
Now, without any further ado, let’s get started!
