This book review is about the Baby & Kids Crochet Style by Jennifer Dougherty of Crochet by Jennifer. Furthermore, this book comes with a giveaway to have a chance to win one copy of this book before it is even available for purchase! This amazing book is currently available to be purchased during the pre-sale on Amazon which I so highly recommend you do.
I was lucky enough to be given the Baby & Kids Crochet Style book early to check it out and review for you all before anyone else has a chance to even see it. What an honor. But seriously, Jennifer published the book “Crochet Style” a few years ago which I bought and was so glad I did.
Her crochet patterns are all so amazing and detail-oriented, I can’t even put into words how elegant and beautiful they are. The book has all the patterns featured with the most stunning crochet photography I have ever seen. I mean just look at this cover photo of the book. The cocoon with those babies just put me right into baby fever and a crochet mood that I have not felt in so long. And yes, even crochet designers can lose their crojo sometimes.
Why you need the book “Baby & Kids Crochet Style”
Without being able to share too much about the text inside the book, I did want to provide with a blurry picture of it that can give you an idea of how well organized this book is. Each pattern is given a well and detailed list of crochet materials you will need in order to crochet the project as well as all the abbreviations that are used for each pattern.
Furthermore, you can kind of see on the side that the pattern is broken up by colors depending on the size you will need to crochet the items. For example, the above Honeycomb Ridges Beanie can be made in 9 different sizes which are all color coded for preemie/doll to large adult sizes.
So, as you can see even though the book mentions that the patterns are mainly for babies and kids, the Crochet Style book has adult sizes listed as well which makes me very happy, cause I really want to wear the beanie shown below.
Each of the crochet patterns in the book Baby & Kids Crochet Style is amazingly detailed and written for a beginner in mind. The patterns all have nicely formatted colored text boxes that help you understand certain parts of the pattern that might otherwise be confusing.
Although I sometimes also prefer watching a video when it comes to learning new crochet techniques, I have to say that this easy and ideal sized book does not make me want to turn on my computer and search for a tutorial. It has everything one needs explained and is so well written.
Each picture represents the patterns so amazingly well. The Baby & Kids Crochet Style book is broken up into 3 sections: Heirloom Keepsakes & Baby Shower Gifts, Photography Props & Nursery Decor, and Big Kid & Cold Weather Accessories. No matter what you are looking for, you will find a pattern you like in this collection of 30 gorgeous and texture-rich crochet patterns.
Should you buy this book? Quick answer: YES
Now, if you can’t decide whether you should buy this book, I cannot recommend it enough and would suggest you send your friends and family the link to this review and have them buy you the book as a gift. In fact, I actually will buy several more books and hand them out as gifts for my crochet friends and family members. I know they will appreciate it as this book is a one of a kind. Seriously, I bought so many crochet books before, this one is the most well-written I have seen in years.
Be sure to share this book review on social media with your friends all around the world so they can have a chance to check out this book as well. Thanks for sharing.
