How to Thermal Crochet a Santa Blanket
Materials you will need
- Premier Serenity Chunky Yarn (100% acrylic, bulky, 109yds/100g):
- Cloud dancer (white): 7 skeins
- Raven (black): 3 skeins
- Goldenrod (yellow): 1 skein
- Red Ochre (red): 10 skeins
- 10.0mm crochet hook
- scissors
- tapestry needle
Gauge
7 thdc sts x 6 thdc rows = 1 square inch (measured on one side only)
Size
42 x 51 inches
Stitches used in the pattern

- st/sts = stitch/stitches
- ch = chain
- sk = skip
- sl st = slip stitch
- sc = single crochet
- hdc = half double crochet
- blo = in back loop only

Free Written Pattern for the Thermal Santa Blanket
Instructions: In terms of color changes, crochet each row on the graph twice such that the images is on the front and back. E.g. once you crocheted row 1, repeat row 1 again, then go to row 2, etc
Ch 81, start from the 2nd ch from the hook.
R1: 1 hdc (into back bump) in each ch until the end, turn
R2: ch 1, 1 thdc (made through blo and parallel loop from below chain) in each st, turn
R3: ch 1, 1 thdc (made through blo and parallel loop – leftover flo – from the previous row) in each st, turn
Repeat R3 (be aware of color changes) until you have 72 rows on one side and 71 rows on the other side
Last Row: ch 1, 1 thdc (made through front, back and parallel loop – leftover flo – from the previous row) in each st, turn
Continued Instructions:
Remember that EACH row is crocheted twice (one for the front side and one for the back side).
R1-16: (w) x 80
R17-30: (r) x 34, (w) x 12, (r) x 34
R31-34: (r) x 30, (y) x 20, (r) x 30
R35-46: (b) x 30, (y) x 4, (b) x 12, (y) x 4, (b) x 30
R47-50: (r) x 30, (y) x 20, (r) x 30
R51-72: (r) x 34, (w) x 12, (r) x 34
Fasten off and weave in ends.
