- Premier Basix Yarn (100% Acrylic, Worsted, 359 yds/200g)
- Pale Orchid (1 Skein)
- 5mm hook
- scissors
- tapestry needle
Gauge
3 sts x 2 rows = 1 square inch
Size
7.5 x 60 inches (can be made longer)
Stitches used in the pattern
Learn all the basic crochet stitches HERE (US crochet terms and abbreviations)
- sk = skip
- ch = chain
- sc = single crochet
- dc = double crochet
- fpdc = front post double crochet
- bpdc = back post double crochet
- fptr = front post treble crochet
- bptr = back post treble crochet
- sl st = slip stitch
- ATC = Alternative Turning Chain, aka Stacked SC

For R4, IF you place the twist in the FRONT instead of the BACK, it will look like this scarf (a wider 2-stranded braid)

Width needs to be ~7.5 inches
Turn after each row
The first dc in every round is made as an ATC
R1: 1 dc in each st, turn
R2: 1 dc in the next 2 sts, 1 bpdc, 1 dc in the next 2 sts, 1 bpdc, 1 dc in the next 2 sts, 1 bpdc in the next 12 sts, 1 dc in the next 2 sts, 1 bpdc, 1 dc in the next 2 sts, 1 bpdc, 1 dc in the next 2 sts
R3: 1 dc in the next 2 sts, 1 fpdc, 1 dc in the next 2 sts, 1 fpdc, 1 dc in the next 2 sts, sk the next 4 fpdc sts from the previous row, over the next 4 sts crochet 1 fptr per st, crochet FROM THE FRONT 1 fptr in each of the skipped sts, 1 fpdc around each of the next 4 fpdc from the previous row, 1 dc in the next 2 sts, 1 fpdc, 1 dc in the next
R4: repeat R2
R5: 1 dc in the next 2 sts, 1 fpdc, 1 dc in the next 2 sts, 1 fpdc, 1 dc in the next 2 sts, 1 fpdc around each of the next 4 fpdc from the previous row, sk the next 4 fpdc sts from the previous row, over the next 4 sts crochet 1 fptr per st, crochet FROM THE FRONT (for a 3-stranded braid for this from the BACK) 1 fptr in each of the skipped sts, 1 dc in the next 2 sts, 1 fpdc, 1 dc in the next 2 sts, 1 fpdc, 1 dc in the next 2 sts, turn
R6: repeat R2
Repeat R2-R5 until the scarf is about 60 inches (or more) long
