What is Mosaic Crochet?

Mosaic Crochet is a very fun design technique that has NO color changes. You will simply cut your yarn at the end of the row and start over above stitch 1 with a new color. You will only need single crochet stitches as well as double crochet stitches for this cozy blanket pattern. I would consider this simple pattern an advanced beginner or intermediate skill level. But whether you tried Mosaic Crochet before or this is your first time, I’ll teach you how to do this project step by step. 

I personally used 4 colors for this blanket for the main body of this perfect blanket and a red border all the way around using the envelope border which I’ll teach how to crochet as well. But you can add your own personal handmade touch to this Calendar blanket. Now let me break down how this pattern and crochet along will work. 

How will this CAL work? Any Support?

Easy. You simply will follow each regular overlay mosaic crochet part once released – you have 1 month to complete each section of the pattern before the next one gets released and added to the pattern. Can I use a different yarn?

Yes, you can switch to a different yarn brand, even a different fiber if you prefer. Stick with worsted yarn.

But I do recommend WeCrochet’s Brava Yarn for this project, especially because you can get the yarn on sale as mentioned above!

What colors should I pick?

I recommend any of the 2-4 solid colors, or as many colors as you like. But you can also use a solid with a multi-colored variegated yarn.

Can I use a different hook size?

Yes, you can pick a different size. Just remember the pattern will be a bit smaller or larger unless you focus on the gauge provided.

• blo = back loop only
• flo = front loop only
• mdc = mosaic double crochet (place around front loop 2 rows down – same color yarn)

PART 1: January Panel

Using Overlay Crochet in Rows, follow the graph to crochet this pattern.

All pixels without an X are made with SC in the BLO (besides the first row, which is a regular sc)

All pixels with an X are made with MDC which are DC sts in the FLO 2 rows down to the same color!
