The Tunisian Crochet Shrug was designed with a Tunisian Crochet Beginner in mind. I used only basic Tunisian Crochet Stitches, such as the Tunisian Simple Stitch and the Tunisian Full Stitch to really make this shrug easy to crochet.

This pattern uses worsted-weight acrylic yarn, but you could easily substitute it for cotton yarn. If you’re looking to make a warmer shrug, I would suggest using acrylic, but if you’d like something a little more lightweight, but will still keep you nice and warm.

Materials you will need

Gauge

3 sts x 2 rows = 1 square inch

Size

Rectangle: 44 x 28 inches

Sewn + finished: 44 x 13 inches (where arm holes are)

Written Pattern for Tunisian Crochet Shrug

Instructions: First, you will crochet a rectangle and then you’ll block it, and then sew together a part of the folded long edge on each short side to create armholes and finish the shrug.

Ch 150

R1 F: starting from the 2nd ch from the hook, 1 TSS in each st (forward pass)

R1 R: work stitches off the hook (return pass)

R2 F: 1 TFS in each st, finish with an edge stitch

R2 R: work stitches off the hook 

Repeat R2 until you have 57 rows

Fold the long side over. Sew 7 inches of the last and first row together on each short side of the folded long rectangle.
