Free Crochet Animal Finger Puppets Pattern
Materials you will need
- Red Heart Super Saver (worsted acrylic, 198g/364yd)
- Soft white
- Pumpkin
- Buff
- Grey Heather
- Cafe
- WeCrochet Brava Yarn (Worsted Weight, 100% Acrylic, 218yd/100g)
- Black
- Orange
- Red
- Light Grey
- 4.00 mm hook
- Plastic Eyes (8mm) and Noses
Gauge
4 sts x 4 rows = 1 square inch
Size
3.25 inches tall (without ears)
Stitches used in the pattern
Learn all the basic crochet stitches HERE (US crochet terms and abbreviations)
- MR = magic ring
- sc = single crochet
- sts = stitches
- ch = chain
- inc = increase
- dec = decrease (inv = invisible through 2 front loops – shown in video)
- tr = treble crochet
- ATC = Alternative Turning Chain

Instructions
Body for ALL animals
Different color for each animal
R1: MR, 6 sc, close ring, continuous rounds, use stitch marker
R2: 2 sc per st
R3: (1 sc, 2sc) x 6
R4-6: 1 sc per st
Add eyes (and nose if there) now – still possible later, but harder
Eyes are between ~R3 and R4
R7: (1 sc, 1 inv sc dec) x 6
R8-14: 1 sc per st
Fasten off
Pig
2 Ears
MR, 1 sc, 1 dc, ch 2, sl st to the first ch, 1 dc, 1 sc, close the ring, sew to the top of the head
Snout
R1: Ch 4, start from the 2nd ch from the hook, 3 sc, 1 sc, 3 sc, turn, crochet on the opposite side of the chain, 1 sc, sl st
R2: 1 sc in blo per st, fasten off, with black sew on the nostrils, then sew on snout to face
Elephant
2 Ears
R1: MR, 5 sc, close the ring, turn
R2: 2 sc per st, turn
R3: (1 sc, 2 sc) x 5, fasten off, sew to the top sides of the head
Trunk
R1: MR, 5 sc, close the ring, continuous rounds, use stitch marker
R2-7: 1 sc per st, fasten off
Do NOT cut and weave in end of the yarn end of the magic ring yet, keep it accessible. Sew on the trunk with the yarn end of R7 to the face, then PULL yarn end from the magic ring, such the the trunk bends a bit, secure it and then weave in ends.
Bear
2 Ears
R1: MR, 1 sc, 2 dc, 1 sc, close the ring, fasten off and sew to the top side of the head
Snout
R1: MR, 8 sc, close the ring, sl st
R2: 1 sc per st, sl st, fasten off, sew on the black mouth and sew to the front of the face.
Bunny
2 Ears
Ch 4, start from the 2nd ch from the hook
R1-9: 1 sc per st, turn
R10: 1 sc dec, 1 sc,
R11: 1 sc dec, fasten off and sew on the ears to the top side of the head.
With pink add the nose lines.
Chicken

What’s between [ ] is all in one st
Ch 4, start from the 2nd ch from the hook, [1 sc, 1 hdc, 1 sc], [sl st, 1 sc, 1 dc, 1 sc, 1 sl st], [1 sc, 1 hdc, 1 sc], fasten off and sew to the top of the head
Beak
MR, (1 sc, 1 dc, ch 2, sl st to the 1st ch, 1 dc, 1 sc, sl st) x2, close the ring, fasten off and sew to the front of the face such that the peak is outwards.
Cat
2 Ears
R1: MR, 1 sc, 1 dc, sl st to the 1st ch, 1 dc, 1 sc, close the hole, fasten off, sew to the top side of the head.
Sew on the black whiskers.
Dog
2 Ears
R1: MR, 1 sc, 2 dc, 1 sc, close the hole, fasten off, sew to the top side of the head.
Cow
2 Black Circles
MR, 6 sc, close the ring, sl st, fasten off and sew to the body
2 Ears (one black and one white)
R1: MR, 3 sc, close the ring, turn
R2-5: 1 sc per st, turn
R6: 1 sc dec, 1 sc, turn
R7: 1 sc dec, fasten off, sew the to top side of the head
Nose
Ch 4, start from the 2nd ch from the hook, 3 sc, 1 sc, 3 sc, turn, crochet on the opposite side of the chain, 1 sc, sl st
Sew on the black nostrils. Sew to the front of the face.
