This is a free crochet pattern for a dog tissue box cover. Cover up your tissue boxes in a fun and unique way!
I always have a box of tissues in every room of my home. While I appreciate that the tissue company tries to put artwork on the boxes, it doesn’t always go with my own decor. Ha ha.
Enter tissue box covers. Crochet tissue box covers are a fabulous way to keep your home decor consistent all while making sure you still have tissues handy no matter what room you’re in.
I love decorating with crochet tissue box covers throughout my home. In particular, this crochet dog tissue box cover is among my son’s favorites. It sure is a fun way to hide a box of tissues!
Use this crochet dog tissue box cover in a child’s bedroom or playroom. Gift it to the dog lover in your life. It would even make a great gift to your local vet office! How fun would it be to see this displayed at your vet the next time you’re there??
If you have never tried making a tissue box cover, I sure hope this will be the first one you try. It’s fun and fairly easy to crochet, even for a beginner. And who wouldn’t like their tissue box cover dressed as a cute puppy dog?

Free Written Pattern for the Dog Tissue Box Cover
First, you’ll be making the back panel (face) and then the side and top body. Then you’ll be making the front panel and sewing it to the body. Finally, you’ll be making and sewing the ears, nose, front legs, and tail to the cover and adding the eyes.
Front Panel for Tissue Box Cover
Ch 20, connect the first with the last ch to make a large loop (with a slip stitch)
You will now work in continuous rounds, so be sure to use a stitch marker
R1: *1 sc in the next 4 chs, then [1 sc, ch 1, 1 sc] in the next ch, repeat from * until the end of the round
R2-6: *1 sc in each st until you reach the corner ch space, [1 sc, ch 1, 1 sc] into the corner chain st, repeat from * until the end of the round. You should now have 64 sts in total.
Now you will crochet in rows on 3 sides. R1-21: 1 sc per stitch (1 sc per corner), turn
Back Panel of Tissue Box Cover
R1: make a magic ring or ch 2, and add 8 sc
R2: *1 sc, [1 sc, ch 1, 1 sc] in the next st, repeat from * 3 more times
R3: *1sc in each st until ch-1 space, in ch-1 space add [1 sc, ch 1, 1 sc], repeat from * 3 more times
R4-R9: Repeat R3
Sewing the Back to the Body of the Tissue Box Cover
Sew the back panel to the side panels using the mattress stitch (or slip stitch if you prefer).
Making the Dog Nose
R1: make a magic ring (or ch 2) and add 8 sc
R2: *1 sc inc in the next 2 sts, 1 hdc inc in the next 2 sts, repeat from * one more time, repeat from * one more time
R3: *(1 sc, 1 sc inc) twice, (1 sc, 1 hdc inc) twice, repeat from * one more time
R4-6: 1sc in each st
R7: *(1 sc, 1 sc dec) twice, (1 sc, 1 hdc dec) twice, repeat from * one more time
R8:*1 sc dec in the next 2 sts, 1 hdc dec in the next 2 sts, repeat from * one more time, repeat from * one more time
Now add the polyfill and close the hole
Then sew the just made nose to the face (where the hole is) leaving an area open below the nose, so you can pull tissues out.
Front Legs (2)
R1: magic ring (or ch 2) and add 4 sc
R2: 1 sc per st
Repeat R2 until each leg is 1.5 inches long
Fasten off and leave a tail for sewing.
Sew legs to the front of the face pointing forward.
Back Legs (2)
R1: magic ring (or ch 2) and add 4 sc
R2: 1 sc per st
Repeat R2 until each leg is 2.5 inches long
Fasten off and leave a tail for sewing.
Sew legs to the back side pointing forward.
Crochet Dog Tail
R1: magic ring (or ch 2) and add 5 sc
R2: 1 sc per st
Repeat R2 until tail is 4 inches long
Fasten off and leave a tail for sewing. Sew tail to the back of the body pointing upwards. Optionally, add a wire inside first, so you can bend the tail the way you like.
Crochet the Ears
Ch 1
R1: starting from the 2nd ch from the hook, 1 sc per st (in the back bump of the ch) until 1 st, remains, in that ch place 3 sc’s, then turn and work through the other side of the chain, 1 sc per st, turn
R2: 1 sc per st until you reach the 3 sc’s, in each of the 3 sc’s place 1 sc inc, then continue the row with 1 sc per st, turn
R3: 1 sc per st until you reach the 3 sc inc’s, then crochet (1 sc, 1 sc inc) 3 times, then continue the row with 1 sc per st, turn
Fasten off and leave a tail. Sew the ears to each front side of the body by the face.
Attaching the eyes
Finally add the eyes to the face.
Now you can use the tissue box cover, by pulling the tissues from below the face (like a tongue).
Your adorable dog tissue box cover is now ready to use! I hope you had fun making this pattern.
