This free crochet Sturdy Pencil Shaped Holder pattern is cool, unique with its zippered closure, and super easy to make! This will make a fun and exciting Back-To-School gift for your child!
For children, the first day of school can be a huge bundle of nerves like going on a roller coaster ride! They’re excited, nervous, scared, happy, sad… all filled with emotions, right?! Giving them a crocheted and unique gift like the Sturdy Pencil Shaped Holder will help to ease that excitement knowing that they have something that’s just for them. How special is that?!
The Sturdy Pencil Shaped Holder crochets up very quickly and uses your favorite colors of leftover yarn, a small amount of cardboard, a zipper, and an old coffee can. This is a crochet project that you can crochet in just one afternoon. And more than likely, you have all the materials you need at home.
My kids always ask me for one-of-a-kind crocheted items for back to school. It makes them feel special and loved knowing that only they have something that was made just for them. When they asked me to crochet them a pencil holder because they were tired of their older, junky looking one, I was excited! This is how I came up with the idea of creating a crocheted sturdy pencil shaped pencil holder!
And the coolest thing is that it is super sturdy and my kids can take it to school also. I am sure their teacher will be pretty jealous and might even want one for themselves! So, I already have my list for Teacher appreciation week ready: Pencil Shaped Pencil Holders.
The Sturdy Pencil Shaped Holder can also make a wonderful and thoughtful Teacher Appreciation Gift. Teachers love really neat items to decorate their classrooms. Knowing that a parent and child took the time to handmake a gift is very special to teachers; they truly enjoy the thought and creativity behind the gift.
While Back-To-School shopping can be harrowing and frustrating, it doesn’t have to be so! Definitely take the time to de-stress by making this awesome and cool Sturdy Pencil Shaped Holder for your child! Taking about only an hour to make, you’ll enjoy working on this fun project!

Now, fasten off and weave in all the ends.
Furthermore, you will need to cut out a piece that is about 3 times (as if it would be attached) of the pencil tip. Then cut it bit smaller once you try to add it inside. Cut it on the round part, not the straight edge.
Then glue the paper and the tip (paper being on the inside) together using hot glue.
Next, you will attach a zipper to the coffee container (only half of it) as well as the crocheted piece that goes around the coffee container.
Finally you hot glue the tip to the other half of the zipper as well.
Now you can zip it up and put it on your desk. Zip it open and add your pencil, pens, scissors, etc. You can even use this for your hooks to hide them from your kids, pets, and spouse. Haha
