When it comes to crochet hooks, I have always wanted Furls Crochet Hooks since I first saw them on Instagram. I was a Clover Crochet Hook girl. I still love those hooks. But there is just no comparison between the Clover hooks and the Furls crochet hooks.

I just mention that I am a right-handed crocheter who uses the knife-grip. I have tried the other grips before also, but I am just not very comfortable with them as I was taught how to knit first.

So, I will base my review of these stunning and luxurious crochet hooks on the knife-grip. Before, I had a chance to review these awesome hooks, I knew I had to buy one for myself. I chose the Odyssey gold crochet hook and OMG, I love that one. You may have seen me use it on my videos on Youtube or on pictures on Instagram and Facebook.

I showed off my first Furls crochet hook when crocheting the Purple Passion Project Purse and the Linked Crochet Washcloths.

Well, Furls provided me with 3 additional hooks plus a yarn bowl, so I could create this review. One of the first things I love about Furls Crochet Hooks is their shipping! It is so fast, I almost feel like I ordered them thru Amazon.

General Characteristics of Furls Crochet Hooks

Furls Crochet Hooks are very special, because they are neither tapered nor in-line crochet hooks, but rather both combined. You get the rounded top of the hook as well as the straight and flat right underneath the crochet hook head. I always wanted to have combination of Boye (tapered) and Susan Bates (in-line) crochet hooks.

Although, Clover hooks are also in-line, which I prefer if I have to choose between the two styles, I still had one issue with them. They are not long enough and they also do not have a long neck. When crocheting with bigger yarn or having to created bigger stitches, it really comes in handy to have a long neck on a crochet hook. Well, Furls Crochet Hooks sure have that!

The Furls Crochet hooks are nice and long in the back, so that it feels very comfortable when crocheting for a long period of time. I mean, who likes to have their crochet hook pick them into the hand all the time, while crocheting.

To provide you with the best of my opinion, I will now separate the hooks and the yarn bowl from each other and talk about each of them individually.

Furls Streamline Wood Crochet Hooks

So, let’s talk about the Streamline Wood Crochet Hooks first. Comparing them to the other 2 crochet hooks, these are the most affordable hooks. Streamline Wood Crochet Hooks are made out of very light wood, that has a very ergonomically fit in your hands.

They also have no separation between the head of the hook and the back of it. It is one nice streamline, which is probably where these hooks got their name from.

Furthermore, you don’t have some bumpy writing where your thumbs are when crocheting. The Streamline Wood Crochet Hooks have an engraving, but it does not bother when crocheting, because it is further back.

Furls Candy Shop Crochet Hooks

The Candy Shop Crochet Hooks are made out of very strong and durable plastic. That also makes them very light. These hooks stand out due to their adorable animal like bumbles in the back of the hook which actually feels extremely ergonomically comfortable when using it.

The exciting and special part about the Candy Shop Crochet Hooks is that they come in different colors. Each hook size has a different “flavor” and therefore comes in a different color. The one in the picture is a 8.0mm hook in the “flavor” pineapple making it yellow.

Comparing the Candy Shop Crochet Hooks  with the Streamline Wood Crochet Hooks, they are just a bit higher in price, but just as nice to work with.

Furls Alpha Series Crochet Hooks

The Alpha Series Crochet Hooks are also made out of wood, are not streamline, but instead have a very nice texture that sure reminds me of an hour glass.

Furthermore, they come in this really luxurious packaging where the hooks are placed in. It really feels so special having one of these hooks in your possession and being able to use it while crocheting.

The  Alpha Series Crochet Hooks are, in my opinion, even more ergonomically beneficial than the other two, because the hour glass shape allows the fingers to be placed in the proper position when crocheting.

I have never felt so comfortable with a crochet hook while crocheting than with the Alpha Series Crochet Hooks.

Furls Odyssey Yarn Bowl

Now, when it comes to Yarn Bowl, I am actually very picky. And that is because I prefer pulling my yarn from the center rather then taking off the paper with the information about the yarn as I usually lose those.

However, there are so many different yarn types that just don’t allow you to pull the first strand from the center of the skein. In those cases, I usually wind them up in a nice ball and use my Yarn Bowl when crocheting.

In this case, the Odyssey Yarn Bowl allows me to use my yarn without having it roll on the ground. Well, you would now ask me why do I prefer the Furls Odyssey Yarn Bowl  over any other one?

I can tell you. I have many that I have used many before. Most of them are super light and just fly through the room when I pull my yarn too fast which happens a lot. Then there are the other bowls that are just too heavy which I just don’t want to carry from point A to point B when crocheting a certain project.

The Odyssey Yarn Bowl is just the right weight. It is neither too light, nor too heavy. It also has some felt underneath preventing it from moving when you pull your yarn. Also, it has a really smooth surface where you will for sure not get your yarn tangled up.

And although I was able to capture its magnificent very well on a picture, my camera sadly was not able to pick up the slight glitter the Odyssey Yarn Bowl has. By the way, the Odyssey gold crochet hook  also have that nice glitter on it.  It is beyond beautiful and really makes a statement in any room of your house.

All 4 different Furls Crochet Hook and Tools products are beyond luxurious and beautiful. I can’t believe I waited this long to get them. These hooks and the yarn bowl for sure will let you crochet for a much longer period of time and as well as happier as your hands and wrists won’t get sore.

To sum it all up, Furls Crochet hooks and yarn bowl will provide you with a life time of happiness and are worth every penny they cost. Be sure to get yourself one. I promise you, you will not regret it.
