Fun Free C2C Crochet Checkerboard Pattern Bag

This is a free C2C crochet checkerboard game that can be easily cinched up into a bag to store all the game pieces in. This is a great introduction to corner-to-corner crochet.

Have you ever sat in those rocking chairs outside Cracker Barrel and played checkers while you wait for your food? It’s a simple game but so much fun! What if I told you that you can crochet your very own checkerboard? Most importantly, it cinches up into a bag so that you can store the game pieces inside too!

Additionally, having a soft game like this crochet checkerboard game means it’s super easy to take it anywhere. You don’t need to worry about heavy stuff crushing the game box and all the pieces falling out. You can just about stuff this game anywhere it will fit – you don’t need to worry about anything breaking.

Another perk of having a soft game is that it makes no noise! If you need to keep your children occupied and quiet at the same time, then this yarn version of the board game is a great alternative.

Looking for great gift ideas for the upcoming holiday season? Consider making games! Hats, scarves, and mittens are common (yet very useful!) crochet gifts. Moreover, a handmade game is truly a unique gift and one that your loved ones can cherish for years to come.

Corner-to-Corner Crochet Tutorial

This crochet checkerboard pattern uses the corner-to-corner (C2C) crochet technique. Never done C2C before? Certainly don’t let that deter you from making this crochet game. This is actually a great introduction to C2C!

Additionally, if you are new to C2C, it would be best to read through the pattern first. Although it’s not complicated – it is a bit different – especially when it comes to reading the pattern itself. This crochet pattern does use a color graph, so you will follow that for the majority of the pattern.

Firstly, you’ll want to watch this video on making the C2C stitch using double crochet stitches. This is what you’ll use for the duration of this pattern.
