Materials you will need
- WeCrochet Brava Yarn (Worsted Weight, 100% Acrylic, 218yd/100g)
- Cornflower (water)
- Grass
- Canary
- Orange
- Wine
- Celestial
- Eggplant
- White
- Grey
- Red
- 5.5 mm hook for lake, green walls, & pockets (WeCrochet Dots hook)
- 4mm hook for the fish and fishing rod (WeCrochet Dots hook)
- Hot glue
- Plastic canvas
- Magnets
- 1 wooden dowel
- Googly Eyes
- Polyfill Stuffing
Gauge
4 sts x 4 rows = 1 square inch
Size
10 inches in diameter (without pockets)

Lake (start with cornflower)
R1: MR, 6 sc, close the ring, continuous rounds, use stitch marker
R2: 2sc per st
R3: (1 sc in 1 sts, 2sc) x6
R4: (2sc, 1 sc in 2 sts) x6
R5: (1 sc in 3 sts, 2sc) x6
R6: (2sc, 1 sc in 4 sts) x6
R7: (1 sc in 5 sts, 2sc) x6
R8: (2sc, 1 sc in 6 sts) x6
R9: (1 sc in 7 sts, 2sc) x6
R10: (2sc, 1 sc in 8 sts) x6
R11: (1 sc in 9 sts, 2sc) x6
R12: (2sc, 1 sc in 10 sts) x6
R13: (1 sc in 11 sts, 2sc) x6
R14: (2sc, 1 sc in 12 sts) x6

R22-43: with grass, 1 sc per st, fasten off, fold the grass outside over, cut the plastic canvas into stripes that fit between the layers, then sew the last and first round of grass together.
6 Colored Pockets
R1: 3 sc in MR, chain 1, turn (3 sts)
R2: 2sc per st, ch 1, turn (6 sts)
R3: (1 sc in 1 sts, 2sc) x3, ch 1, turn (9 sts)
R4: (1 sc in 2 sts, 2sc) x3, ch 1, turn (12 sts)
R5: (1 sc in 3 sts, 2sc) x3, ch 1, turn (15 sts)
R6: (1 sc in 4 sts, 2sc) x3, ch 1, turn (18 sts)
R7: 18 sc in BLO, sc along edge 12-14 sts, join, ch 1 (30-32 sc)
R8-29: 1 sc per st
Fold over the edge, so it’s double layered, sew the R7 with R29 together.
Then sew or hot glue the pockets to the outside of the grass area of the lake, evenly.
6 Fish (the same colors as the pockets)
You’ll need the magnets at this time. Make sure the magnetic side of the magnets will point OUTWARD towards the mouth of the fish when you add them.
R1: MR, 6 sc, close the ring, continuous rounds, use stitch marker
R2: (1 sc, 2 sc) x 3
R3: (1 sc in 2 sts, 2 sc) x 3
R4: (1 sc in 3 sts, 2 sc) x 3
R5: (1 sc in 4 sts, 2 sc) x 3
R6-7: 1 sc in 2 sts
Add the magnet on the bottom, add hot glue over to secure it in place. Remember magnet sides points outwards. TEST IT with a magnet on the outside.
R8: (1 sc in 4 sts, 1 inv sc dec) x 3
R9: (1 sc in 3 sts, 1 inv sc dec) x 3
R10: (1 sc in 2 sts, 1 inv sc dec) x 3
R11: 1 sc per st
Stuff
Squeeze the circle into an over, such that you can crochet across over 2 sts at the time.
R12: (1 sc over 2 parallel sts) x4, turn
AFTER all chains made start from 2nd ch from the hook
R13: ch 4, 1 sc per ch, *sl st to the next st, 1 sc in blo in 2 sts, ch 2, 1 sc in ch, 1 sc in blo in 2 sts, repeat from * until the end (and you have 4 “ch 2” extensions at the end – they look like the picot stitch).
Glue on googly eyes.
2 side fins
MR, ch 1, 2 hdc, ch 1, sl st to the ring, close the ring, sew onto the side of the fish, pointing to the back
Fishing pole
Start with grey
R1: MR, 6 sc, close the ring, continuous rounds, use stitch marker
R2: (1 sc, 2 sc) x 3
R3-14: 1 sc per st
Stuff
R15: (1 sc, inv sc dec) x 3
R16: 1 sc per st
Add the wooden dowel (you may have to adjust or move around the stuffing).
Separately crochet the white section:
R1: MR, 6 sc, continuous rounds, use stitch marker do NOT close the ring, leave it open enough for the dowel to get pushed through later.
R2-31 (or until the height of the dowel when added): 1 sc per st
Push onto the dowel, fasten off and sew the end closed, and then sew R1 to R16 of the grey section.
Crochet 3 grey circles to add onto the white section of the fishing pole to hold the “fishing yarn”
R1: MR, 15 sc, sl st, close the ring once you pushed it onto the fishing pole, then weave in ends.
Weave white yarn (any length) through each section of the grey circles. Secure the end to R1 of the white section. Now let’s crochet the magnetic “hook”.
