Free Quick Crochet Butterfly Pattern

This is a free crochet pattern for a cute and quick butterfly. It’s a great spring pattern to show your love for animals in nature.
It’s now officially Spring and we all love seeing butterflies flying around from one flower to another to feed themselves. But we, especially children, can’t play with real butterflies. So let’s crochet some. They are great not just to play with but also for gifts and home decor.
I recently made a poll in my Instagram Stories and Instagram Broadcast Channel as well as my Facebook Group Crocheting with Nicki to figure out which animal to publish next. They had a choice between a baby chick, bunny, bee, snail, and butterfly. Well, the butterfly clearly won which is why you see the free pattern now available here on my website.
But no worries. The other patterns are available also, even with checkboxes, and are ad-free. You can find them as exclusive patterns within my membership The Crochet Club where I publish weekly new patterns with video tutorials in a LIVE video in the private group of the membership. You can join us here if you want those patterns.
In the meantime, are you ready for the free butterfly crochet pattern? I used the amazing and fun Batik yarn from Premier Yarns. Have you tried it yet?
The pattern was a Design CAL
Recently I created a new type of crochet alongs and they are called Design CALs. They are hosted as part of my “The Crochet Club” membership and can only be accessed as a member.
These Design CALs are super special because members have input on how the pattern turns out. We start the pattern with an idea and every week, for 4 weeks, the pattern is extended until it’s done. All through video tutorials, one each week.
There is a new Design CAL each month now. Currently, we’re working on one small crochet pattern per week. In March 2023 we focused on Animals. And next month we’ll work on fruit.
This Butterfly Crochet Pattern was designed in March 2023 in The Crochet Club. It was a highly requested pattern.
You’ll be able to find the Butterfly video tutorial in The Crochet Club as it is exclusive to the membership. But the pattern is now accessible also on my website for you with ads, or Ravelry, Etsy, and LoveCrafts as a pdf without ads.

This pattern is also available as an ad-free, printer-friendly pdf pattern that can be purchased at the links below for only a small fee.
In “The Crochet Club” membership the pattern is interactive with check-off boxes so you can keep track of where you are in the pattern (and saved per user login) without any ads and is printer-friendly!

R1: add to the ring not into the stitches * 3DC, ch 2, repeat from * until you have 8 sets of them, sl st to the first st
R2: start at a ch-2 space, [3DC, ch 2, 3DC] into each ch-2 space (8 times in total), sl st to the first st

Fold the flower-like circle in half such that you have 4 sets of points/petals on each side using a pipe cleaner (folded in half), put the folded crochet piece between the folded pipe cleaner, then twist the pipe cleaners where the butterfly head would be, then fold the antennas in half and twist again, twist or cut any loose pipe cleaner wire off
