Free Reversible Crochet Purse Pattern with Pockets

This is a free reversible crochet purse pattern with pockets. This is a great beginner linked crochet pattern using Premier Anti-Pilling Medley yarn.
Crochet purses do not have to be generic. You can make them special, even with easy stitches. In this case, this pattern uses Linked Crochet to make it look extra special. So the purse has 2 pouches, 1 inside the other, and 2 pockets of which 1 of them is the flap depending on how you turn and reverse it. You can see the purse being reversed here.
But linked crochet has another fantastic feature. It prevents gaps which means you will not need a lining for this purse and nothing will fall through the stitches, excluding needles of course, since it’s crochet. Awesome, right?
And if you are a visual learner, I also added a few video tutorials to learn the stitches needed to help you along with the written pattern as well. This pattern used to be a mystery crochet along and is broken up like that accordingly.

Pattern Notes
First, you’ll crochet the purse pouches and then the crochet pockets, before assembling all of it. The last video shows and talks about different ways this pattern can be assembled. Keep in mind that this pattern used to be part of a Mystery CAL and therefore is broken up into 3 pieces and 3 videos.
Crochet First Purse Pouch
The crochet purse pouch used the Linked Double Crochet. You can learn this stitch in this photo and video tutorial here, but I also explained it in the full video tutorial for Part 1 below.

You will only need 1 color for this, pick 1 of the 2 skeins you have.
Ch 30+2
ROUND 1: (crochet in the back bump!) insert hook into the 2nd ch from the hook, pull up a loop, insert hook into the 3rd ch and pull up a loop, finish it like a regular dc st, now crochet 1 ldc per ch (30 sts), now turn and work on the opposite site of the chain, 1 ldc per ch (that is 30 more sts), connect the last ldc with th first ldc (watch the first video on how to do this) or sl st the last to the first st (60 sts in total for this round)
ROUND 2: ch 2, 1 ldc per st, connect the last st to the first st
ROUND 3-11: repeat R2
Leave a tail for sewing (~2 feet)
Part 1 should each be 5 x 9 inches. It’s ok if the measurement is off a bit.
Crochet 2 Pockets
The pockets of this purse pattern use the Linked Half Double Crochet. You can learn this stitch in this photo and video tutorial here, but I also explained it in the full video tutorial for Part 2 below.

Crochet 1 in each color
Ch 26+2
ROUND 1: (crochet in the back bump!) insert hook into the 2nd ch from the hook, pull up a loop, insert hook into the 3rd ch and pull up a loop, finish it like a regular hdc st, now crochet 1 lhdc per ch (26 sts), now turn and work on the opposite site of the chain, 1 lhdc per ch (that is 26 more sts), invisible sl st to the first st (52 sts in total for this round)
ROUND 2: ch 2, 1 lhdc per st, connect the last st to the first st
ROUND 3-10: repeat R2
Now you’ll crochet from one edge to the other edge in rows.
ROW 1-3: ch 2, 1 hdc per st (until edge/corner), turn
Leave a tail for sewing (~2 feet)
The pieces should match in size. Mine are about 7 x 4.5 inches.
Crochet Second Purse Pouch
But let’s finish the pattern now. And of course, I have a video tutorial for you here:

First, crochet part 1 one more time but in the other color!
This piece should match the one in Part 1 which means they are both each 5 x 9 inches.
Purse Assembly
Flip the large grey pouch inside out and insert it into the large currant pouch.
Now insert the small pouch into the large grey one.
Sew the 3 layers together (make sure the grey yarn is not shown on the currant pouch. Now continue sewing the large pouches together.
Finally, flip the large pouches inside out and insert the smaller currant pouch into the larger currant pouch and sew them together on the top using a current yarn piece.
Now optionally add buttons or snaps such that the smaller pouches/pockets can also be flaps. And you can totally also add a zipper, but you may not need a liner since it’s Linked Crochet which reduces gaps between the stitches.
So what is the pattern? Well, mine is a Reversible Purse Pouch with pockets that are also the flap/closure of the purse. Will you make the same one or assemble it differently?
