This is a free handy ice cream cozy crochet pattern with a spoon holder with just basic crochet stitches. This is a great beginner pattern with a video tutorial.
Personally, it doesn’t matter if it’s summer or winter, I love to enjoy some ice cream. And if I don’t want to dirty up a dish I eat it right out of the pint. LOL Who doesn’t? But it’s very cold to hold it that long, so I designed a fun and easy cozy so you can enjoy your ice cream and still protect your hands. Plus we sometimes get ice cream headaches and need to take a break. So now you can put your spoon into the spoon holder slot. This pattern is the 19th free crochet pattern of the Advent Calendar Mystery Crochet Along.
This handy gift pattern is the 19th pattern (December 19th) of the 24 patterns. It keeps your ice cream away from your hands to prevent fast melting and your hands from freezing but it also features a handle for an easy way to hold it. In addition, the spoon holder keeps the spoon where it needs to be – close to your ice cream without it making anything else dirty.
This pattern as all the patterns in this Advent Calendar Mystery Crochet Along comes with a video tutorial to guide you through the pattern. This pattern’s yarn is Vanna’s Choice and was provided by Lion Brand Yarns.

Pattern Notes
First, you’ll start by crocheting the in the round, from the bottom up. Lastly, you’ll add the handle and you’re done!
Instructions for the Ice Cream Cozy with Spoon Holder
Start with a Magic Ring
R1: ch 1, add 7 sc to the ring, close the ring, and crochet in continuous rounds (use a stitch marker)
R2: 2 sc per st
R3: *1 sc, 2 sc in the next st, repeat from * all around
R4: *1 sc in the next 2 sts, 2 sc in the next st, repeat from * all around
R5: *1 sc in the next 3 sts, 2 sc in the next st, repeat from * all around, sl st (no continuous rounds for R6 only)
R6: 1 sc in the 3rd loop behind the V, all around, sl st
R7 – R16: continuous rounds again, *1 sc, 1 dc, repeat from * all around
IF you want to add the spoon holder, do the following:
Crochet R7 5 rounds, then in R6, where ever you want your spoon holder to start, ch 3 and skip 3, then in the following round, crochet R7 as normal – seeing the chains as stitches, then repeat this process in the same location for R8 and 9
For the ice cream cozy handle:
Ch 4
R1: 1 sc, 1 dc, 1 sc, turn
R2: 1 ATC, 1 sc, 1 dc, turn
Repeat R1 and R2 for 15 rows in total.
Now sew the handle to the cozy and fasten off and weave in your ends.
