Combine timeless elegance with intricate texture in this hairpin lace crochet Mobius shawl pattern, featuring flowing lacework and a beautifully twisted infinity design that creates a lightweight, draped layering piece perfect for adding style to any outfit.

Welcome to my very first Hairpin Lace Mystery CAL! From June 1st to June 13th, I’ll be releasing 6 new free patterns that are perfect for a curious beginner to the hairpin lace crochet technique. Each pattern will have its own live tutorial with a chance to win prizes!

The fourth free pattern works up a beautiful mobius shawl. It is a one-of-a-kind shawl you can add to your handmade wardrobe. The pattern combines the delicate look of hairpin lace with the elegant twist of a mobius design.

If you’ve been wanting to learn hairpin lace crochet, this pattern is a great introduction to the technique. Hairpin lace creates long delicate strips that are joined together to form an open and lacy fabric with incredible drape. The result is a lightweight crochet shawl that feels soft and luxurious while using surprisingly little yarn.

Once you become familiar with the hairpin lace loom and basic crochet stitches, you’ll find the pattern meditative and enjoyable to work through. The repetitive nature of the lace strips makes it a wonderful project for quiet evenings, travel crochet, or crafting while watching your favorite shows.

Perfect for adding elegance to any outfit, this free crochet pattern creates a beautiful wrap that’s ideal for cool evenings and year-round layering. You can even style it many different ways: wear it as a traditional shawl, a lightweight crochet scarf, a shoulder wrap, or even as a fashionable infinity cowl. The mobius construction adds an eye-catching twist that allows the shawl to sit beautifully around your shoulders without constant adjusting.

Whether you’re looking to expand your crochet skills, create your own handmade piece for your wardrobe, or simply enjoy the fun of crafting alongside a community of crocheters, the Mystery CAL is the perfect opportunity.

Instructions:

Make sure to watch the video for Hairpin Lace first. Using the Clover Hairpin Lace tool, put 2 pins into position 6 and 6 (pins are 6 cm apart). Then crochet 9 panels each with 189 loops on each side. Before removing the loops from the stick, make sure to add a spare yarn piece through to secure them from twisting.

Each panel has loops on 2 sides. Take 1 side per panel and connect them like this: Attach new yarn, pick up 3 loops (twisted), 1 sc, ch 3, repeat until all loops are worked up. Secure at the end. Weave in ends. Do this for 9 panels.

Now you have the outsider side’s loops left. Attach new yarn, pick up 3 loops (twisted), 1 sc, ch 1, repeat until all loops are worked up. Secure at the end. Weave in ends.

Finally, fold the rectangle in half and twist one of the short edges 180 degrees, then sew the short edges together.

You have now a twist in the shawl which is known as the Mobius shawl. It can be worn over the shoulder or even over the head (like a hooded cowl). The twist can be on the front or the back depending how you want to wear it.
