We’ve reached day 9 of the 2023 Advent Calendar Mystery Crochet Along! Each day, from December 1st through December 24th, I’ll be posting one free pattern for last-minute Christmas gifts right here on my blog. These unique patterns may be silly and fun, classy and elegant, or simple and practical. But you never which the pattern I will release, so make sure to visit every day to discover a new surprise!
Today’s easy pattern leans more to the silly side but it can also help you do some serious napping. Introducing the crochet sleeping mask with 3D eyes! Wear it to block out the light so you can get restful sleep after days of stressful holiday prep. But if there are others around, you may also want to use earplugs, because chances are, the goofy frog eyes on this mask will have them laughing out loud.
These crochet eye masks would be the perfect gift to make when you need something quick for a white elephant gift exchange. Or make it for that person who is always “just resting their eyes.” It would also be a fun gift for kids to use at bedtime. No matter how you use it, this cute sleep mask is a great way to give a practical gift that’s also so much fun.
And of course, you can always change the green yarn to suit the recipient’s favorite colors. The suggested yarn, Premier Cotton Sprout, comes in 38 different colors, so you’re sure find one that your loved one will like. It works up into a soft fabric that will feel good on the skin. As an added bonus, if you use coupon code DecMCAL20, you can get 20% off Cotton Sprout through December 24, 2023. You can also use similar yarns that you happen to have in your stash. Any good quality cotton worsted weight yarn will work.
Even if you’re a first time crocheter, I’m confident that you can make this pattern. It’s made with basic stitches – almost entirely in the single crochet stitch – and uses simple increases and decreases. Like all patterns in this MCAL, it includes a full video tutorial just in case you need extra help. Just follow the pattern and then add ribbon ties so the mask can be adjusted for comfort. It’s that simple!
So let’s get started.
