Assembly
Refer to video 3 for more details on this.
Cut 5 plastic canvas pieces such that they are a hint smaller than the 5 brown pieces that will make up the chest (2 small rectangles, 2 elongated rectangles, 1 square).
Next, cut 3 plastic canvas pieces such that they are a hint smaller than the 3 white pieces that will be on the inside of the lid (2 half circles and 1 square).
Next, sew the brown chest with all the pieces together.
Then place the plastic canvas pieces for the chest on the inside, and then place the white basket inside (but on top of the plastic canvas pieces).
Crochet 1 sc row all around to connect the brown with the white basket.
For the lid, sew the brown half circles to the brown square. Do the same with the white half circles (with 8 rows) to the white square (without the sc round).
Place the plastic canvas pieces for the lid inside the brown lid, then place the white lid on the inside as well, sandwiching the plastic canvas pieces in between.
Crochet 1 sc round around the edge of the brown and white lid to connect them.
Now sew one of the long edges of the lid to one of the long edges of the chest.
Sew the 2 amber stripes around the chest such that the dc stitches is hanging over the edge from the top (making a buttonhole).
Sew on the button to the front of the amber piece on the chest basket side (not the lid).
Sew on the small lock to the center of the chest on the front.
Add French knots evenly around the edge of the lid and the front and back of the chest.
