This is a free crochet pattern for faux fur crochet scarf that is super soft and works up really quickly. It uses beginner-friendly single crochet and faux fur yarn.
If you live in a chilly country and need a scarf to keep warm, this faux fur crochet scarf is just what you need! It is super soft as it uses faux fur yarn. It is also a beginner-friendly crochet scarf as it uses a single crochet stitch.
Single crochet is a recommended stitch when it comes to using faux fur yarn. It is for a couple of reasons. Firstly, that faux fur yarn will produce a fur-looking fabric so it really does not matter what stitch you used. It is best to keep it as simple as possible.
Secondly, it can be a little tricky to crochet with faux fur yarn as you can not see the stitches. That means any fancy stitch combinations will probably get lost and you will end up losing stitches or gaining additional ones that you do not need.
Tips For Working With Faux Fur Yarn
There are a few things to remember when crocheting faux fur crochet scarves. The yarn consists of two different parts. It is the faux fur and flat tape that hold the fur in place.
When you are crocheting with this type of faux fur yarn, you can not see the stitches as the fur is in the way. To work out where to insert your hook, you have to feel for the stitches. This is where the tape comes in handy. You have to feel for the stitches with your fingers. This will guide your hook and you will find the tape loops that create the stitches.
Secondly, this yarn has a lot of grip due to the textured faux fur. That means it is also quite tricky to unpick your work. So be careful when working with this yarn and make sure to read patterns thoroughly so you do not have to rip out your work.
And that brings me to the last tip, be careful when working with this yarn as it also tears easily. If you pull a little too hard the tape part of the yarn is very likely to snap.
