The Faux Fur Pom Pom is a free crochet pattern and ideal for a quick project to add an amazing feature to your hats and beanies. It’s fun and easy to make too. Perfect for the Fall and Winter seasons. A video Tutorial provided.
After I published the Faux Fur Ear Warmers, I knew I had to create a pattern for a Faux Fur Pom Pom. It’s the perfect time, too. It’s already Fall, almost Winter. Therefore it’s craft season.
Many crafters, crocheters and knitters are working on their hats and beanies and need to make them beautiful with one small extra accessory. This Faux Fur pom pom will give it the extra flair it needs.
I used Knit Picks/ WeCrochet’s Fable Fur yarn (provided to me for free so I can create this amazing quick pattern. Thanks! Kit Picks). It’s simply the best yarn to use for crocheting faux fur. I’ve tried several different types of faux fur. And this one is simply the best.
You might not be able to SEE the stitches. But you sure can FEEL the stitches due to the band that holds the faux fur together. It’s not too thick that it would take away from the faux fur feeling, but it allows you to feel the stitches.
Some other faux fur yarns either have very long “hair” of faux fur or they don’t have a nice band that holds the faux fur that can be felt.
So do yourself a favor and get yourself some Knit Picks/ WeCrochet’s Fable Fur yarn. Did I mention how affordable it is? The quality is 100% awesome!
I also created a tutorial for Faux Fur Pom Poms made from Faux fur fabric sheets. Furthermore, did you know you can even create Reversible Faux Fur Pom Poms. Yes, you can. I have a tutorial here.
So let me now give you the list of supplies you need in order to make this cute Faux Fur Pom Pom.
This pattern is also available as an ad-free, printer-friendly pdf pattern that can be purchased at the links below for only a small fee.

Instructions for Faux Fur Pom Poms:
The video tutorial is provided below.
This pattern is made in rounds.
Please note that due to the yarn,it can be HARD to SEE the stitches. BUT it can be EASY to FEEL the stitches.
Make a magic ring
R1: 8 sc into the ring, close the ring, sl st to the first st
R2: 2 sc in each st, sl st to the first st
R3: *1 sc, 2 sc in the same st, repeat from * until the end, sl st to the first st
R4: *1 sc, 1 sc dec, repeat from * until the end, sl st to the first st
R5: 1 sc dec all around, sl st to the first st
Now stuff with polyfill.
Use a tapestry needle to close the hole. It’s easier to insert into the needle if you cut off some of the fur of the yarn tail first .
Fasten off and weave in your ends.
Add some normal yarn in order to attach the pom pom for hats, etc.
If you want to make the pom pom smaller, you could eliminate R3 and R4.
