When it comes to beanies, I must say that the Reversible Textured Slouchy Beanie is my absolute favorite free crochet pattern I ever designed. I am so in love with the texture and warmth of it. It can be worn so many different ways. I just can’t help myself but mess with my new beanie all the time.
The Reversible Textured Slouchy Beanie does not have to be slouchy, as all you have to do is fold over the ribbing and suddenly you have a beanie with 2 different colors. I chose red and green as these are my favorite Christmas colors. In fact my all time favorite color is really red. So that will properly be the color side I will be wearing on the outside most of the time.
If you look a little closer, the Reversible Textured Slouchy Beanie has some unique, elegant and secret features. I wanted the beanie to be not only reversible, but also feature 2 different types of textures. The red side has on the top vertical lines and shows off horizontal lines as the ribbing, whereas the green side has these textures reversed.
However, if you flip over the ribbing, when you do not want the beanie to be slouchy then you will see only horizontal lines or vertical lines in 2 different colors. How cool is that?
I am just beyond happy with how this beanie is turned out. Furthermore, you can even not sew the 2 beanies together and then have 2 separate slouchy beanies that are not reversible.
But when you sew them together, the magic begins and the Reversible Textured Slouchy Beanie really makes you feel warm as the two beanies combines is like wearing a beanie made with bulky yarn when it fact you only used worsted weighted yarn.

Now, before I show you the materials and the actual free crochet pattern, please be sure to add this pattern to your Ravelry favorites by clicking the button below as that allows my pattern being shown to more people who might want to see it and also want to make it.
The Reversible Textured Slouchy Beanie features one of my most favorite types of yarns which is the Premier Yarns Anti-Pilling Everyday Worsted yarn. It is so soft and easy to work with, you will want to use it all the time after trying it once.
Furthermore, you won’t need much further then a 5.0mm crochet hook and some scissors and tapestry needle. How awesome is that? And of course if you get a detachable pom-pom you can also add it any time you need it and feel like you need a little “cherry on top”.
You can get the crochet pattern for the Reversible Textured Slouchy Beanie on Ravelry, Etsy, LoveCrafts, or my new membership The Crochet Club. The Crochet Club has so much more to offer than just PDF patterns! You get tutorials, references and the complete VIP treatment as well.
If you pay just twice the amount as this pattern costs and you have a month’s worth of The Crochet Club Membership with a lot more patterns! It’s well worth it.
If you do not want to join The Crochet Club, you can also purchase the ad-free, printer-friendly PDF pattern at the links below. But IF you join the All-Access Membership you will automatically get this pattern.
In addition, I created a downloadable PDF that has all of the pictures separated from the pattern, so you can choose whether you want to print them or not. This can save you a lot of ink in the long run. You can buy the ad-free, printer-friendly PDF on Ravelry, Etsy, LoveCrafts, and my VIP crochet membership, The Crochet Club.
As this pattern is written for an adult/teen head, I would like to let you know that you can easily adjust the pattern as it is made top down. I have a very detailed reference guide on how to adjust any hat or beanie pattern to the size you need it to be. You can see it HERE.
Furthermore, the Reversible Textured Slouchy Beanie features very easy and fast to learn basic crochet stitches for which I have many videos on. You can access these tutorials HERE.
However, in the near future I will work on a detailed full tutorial for this beanie. I just did not have the time to do it before publishing this pattern as life took over. But I still wanted to provide you with the free crochet pattern right away.
So let me now tell you how you will need and how to make this free crochet pattern called the Reversible Textured Slouchy Beanie.

Instructions:
First we will make the red beanie, then green beanie and then sew them both together.
Red Beanie (using red heather):
Round 1: Make a magic ring, ch 2 and add 12 dc’s, then pull yarn end to close the ring, sl st to the first st (12 sts)
Round 2: Ch 2, *1 dc and 1 FPDC (around the same dc from the previous round), repeat from * all around, sl st to the first st (24 sts)
Round 3: Ch 2, *1 dc in the next 2 sts, 1 FPDC (onto the FPDC from the previous round), repeat from * all around, sl st to the first st (36 sts)
Round 4: Ch 2, *1 dc in the next 3 sts, 1 FPDC (onto the FPDC from the previous round), repeat from * all around, sl st to the first st (48 sts)
Round 5: Ch 2, *1 dc in the next 4 sts, 1 FPDC (onto the FPDC from the previous round), repeat from * all around, sl st to the first st (60 sts)
Round 6 – 14: Ch 2, *1 dc in the next 4 sts, 1 FPDC (onto the FPDC from the previous round), repeat from * all around, sl st to the first st (60 sts)
Round 15 – 26: Ch 1, 1 hdc in the 3rd loop behind the V in every st all around, sl st to the first st (60 sts)
Fasten off and weave in the ends.
Green Beanie (using pine green):
Round 1: Make a magic ring, ch 2 and add 12 dc’s, then pull yarn end to close the ring, sl st to the first st (12 sts)
STARTING FROM HERE: ALL DOUBLE CROCHETS ARE MADE IN THE 3RD LOOP BEHIND THE V, UNTIL I SAY OTHERWISE!
Round 1: Ch 2, *2 dc in the same st, repeat from * all around (24 sts)
Round 2: Ch 2, *1 dc , 2 dc in the same st, repeat from * all around (36 sts)
Round 3: Ch 2, *1 dc in the next 2 sts , 2 dc in the same st, repeat from * all around (48 sts)
Round 4: Ch 2, *1 dc in the next 3 sts , 2 dc in the same st, repeat from * all around (60 sts)
Round 5 – 13: Ch 2, 1 dc in each st all around (60 sts)
NOW YOU WILL NOT PLACE ANYMORE STITCHES IN THE 3RD LOOP BEHIND THE V!
Round 14 – 21: Ch 2, *1 FPDC, 1 dc, repeat from * all around (60 sts)
Every FPDC is placed on top of the FPDC from the previous round; the same is true for the dc’s.
Fasten off and cut a long piece of green yarn for sewing.
Sewing the Beanies together:
Now flip the red beanie inside out and tug it into the green one.
Now you will use the 3rd loop behind the V of both the red and green beanie to sew the tow beanies together. Using the 3rd loop behind the V allows you to hid the sewing line. Once you finished sewing all around it, be sure to stretch out the ribbing of the beanie so that the sewing line does not become to tide (if you do not stretch it you won’t be able to wear the beanie). Now fasten off and weave in the ends.
Now you can wear the Reversible Textured Slouchy Beanie however you like. Don’t you like it as much as I do?
