Hairpin Lace Crochet Circular Doily

One of the most beautiful aspects of this pattern is the elegant texture created by the hairpin lace technique, especially the way the all the delicate loops come together to make this doily. While the finished doily looks intricate and impressive, the process is surprisingly enjoyable, making it a rewarding project for any crocheter!

No matter how you choose to display the finished piece, it will surely be a work of art and a conversation piece for your home. Imagine it under your grandmother’s candy dish or as a centerpiece on your coffee table. It will quickly become a cherished part of your home decor that can be passed down for generations.

Instructions:

Make sure to watch the video for Hairpin Lace first. Using the Clover Hairpin Lace tool, put 2 pins into position 6 and 6 (pins are 6cm apart). Then crochet 1 panel with 20 loops on each side with the color virescent. 1 panel with 40 loops on each side with the color pearl and 1 panel with 80 loops with the color bayloaf.

Before removing the loops from the stick, make sure to add a spare yarn piece through to secure them from twisting.

Sl st the first with the last sc for each colored panel to create a loop.

Each panel has loops on 2 sides. For the smallest loop, weave the same colors yarn through one side of all the loops and pull to create a center for the circle. Pull the sc sts apart a bit to make the circle bigger and more stretchy.

Now connect the now circle’s left over loops to the pearl colored loops (one side only). Insert your hook through 1 loop from smaller panel, then go to the other panels loops and grab 2 loops and pull them through the first 1 loop, then go back to the first panel and grab the next 1 loop and pull them through the 2 loops on your hook, repeat until all loops are worked up.

Secure at the end. Weave in ends.

Now connect the pearl colored leftover loops to the bayloaf’s colored loops the same way.

Fasten off and weave in ends and BLOCK your project with an iron or steamer, optionally use a glue/water mixture to harden.
