Crochet Plant Hanger
The crochet plant hanger is a must-make project that uses the Tunisian Simple Stitch with the crochet tunisian entrelac technique. (As it turns out, you don’t need to know how to macrame to make a cute plant hanger!)
This pattern calls for bulky weight yarn, so it works up quickly. I used Mary Maxim Home Yarn because it’s made for home decor and holds up well to the test of time. It’s a blend but it’s primarily a cotton yarn, so you know it’s durable.
Not only does this hanger keep your plants up and off the ground (hello, more shelf space!), but it also adds a handmade touch to your decor that store-bought hangers just can’t match.
The color possibilities are endless. You could keep it earthy with a neutral monotone or go bold by mixing and matching scraps from your stash for a playful, patchwork vibe.
And the best part? This is way easier than it looks! I’ll walk you through everything step-by-step, so you can have your new crochet plant hanger ready to show off in no time.
Grab your yarn, pick out a plant that deserves the spotlight, and let’s get started on your new favorite crochet project!

Written Pattern for Tunisian Crochet Plant Hanger
Make sure to learn the entrelac technique first (see the video above) before starting this pattern.
All pixels are 8×8 stitches plus 2 edge stitches per row (10 loops on forward pass) and binding off.
Start with making 1 pixel and leave to the side for now.
Then start a new pixel (not attached to pixel 1) and crochet it the same way as pixel 1. Now crochet pixel 3 (attached above pixel 2). After that crochet pixel 4 as an increase on the right side of pixel 3 and then crochet pixel 5 attached to pixel 3 while picking up the last 10th loop from the edge stitch of pixel 1. Finish pixel 5.
Now crochet pixel 6 and 7 like 4 and 5, but pixels 6 is next to 4 and 7 is attached to 4 and 5. Finally crochet pixel 8 above pixel 7.

Now sew (I used the whip stitch) the edges of pixels 1 to 3, 2 to 4, 6 to 7 and 8 to 5.
Finally reattach yarn on each corner (see arrows) and ch 15, starting from the 2nd ch from the hook, 1 sc per st, fasten off.
Optionally add key rings to the turning chain of the 4 straps to attach it on the ceiling or a hook. Wooden beads or tassels would also add an extra dash of pizzazz to your new plant holder!
