Summary of Episode 13 with Christine
Christine started off selling finished crochet pieces when her son was little. She enjoyed crocheting baby things, however, it fizzled out.
A couple of years ago, Christine lost her job and was forced to move too, and then her truck died.
At rock bottom, she has found a crochet business course that has helped her tremendously and opened her eyes to what she can do with crochet and turn it into a successful business.
Christine was a full-time music teacher before and although she still loves music, she has moved on from this career.
I was amazed when Christine revealed she is living in a tent full time. She started in the summer months to get used to her new lifestyle. She made a video about tent living on TikTok which went viral.
After going viral, she contacted a tent company and asked them to sponsor her. They provided her with all season tent.
Christine reveals a few tips and tricks on how she stores her yarn in the tent. Although she had to get rid of a few skeins, she managed to keep a couple of rubber totes full of yarn safe in her tent.
I laughed when Christine shared a funny story about how some of her materials got lost and she could not find them until the snow melted.
Christine’s cat is a very keen crafter who loves to be in her video tutorials when she is filming outside. Her son has learned the basics of crochet and is inspired by other male crochet artists.
Some of Christine’s designs are inspired by deserts and cactuses. It all started when she designed Cactus Mason Jar Cover as a gift for her friend living in Arizona. After posting in a crochet Facebook group, she decided to write the pattern as there was a lot of demand. After that, it has become a little theme in her designs.
Christine enjoys colorwork and especially tapestry crochet. When in doubt, add a cactus to it – that is Christine’s motto when she works on her designs.
