Summary of Episode 23 with Kelly
Kelly enjoyed doing arts and crafts with her two kids but she wanted to learn a craft just for herself.
Armed with a hook and yarn she took to YouTube and taught herself how to crochet. After a few attempts and not-so-square washcloths, she was hooked!
Kelly enjoys photography and creating little squares for Instagram that are an insight onto her crochet world.
She started selling her finished baby blankets and hats and then set up a shop with her patterns and printables.
A graphic designer by day, Kelly enjoys being creative with yarn, putting colors and stitches together.
I like Kelly’s design process, how she takes a stitch and uses it in so many different ways and designs, and the ways she layers colors to make them work together.
Kelly’s favorite colors are neutrals and pastels, however, she likes to mix things up and choose unusual colors and combines them. This is her strong point when it comes to crochet and she likes to share her knowledge with others.
I was happy to hear when Kelly said she wanted to try knitting and Tunisian crochet to achieve the knit look. However, she is not keen on trying amigurumi or crocheting garments.
Kelly had an amazing idea to sell printable tags and wash care cards to help makers package their handmade nicely.
I laughed when Kelly shared a funny story about her favorite purple hook.
Kelly also shared a funny story when she was making a corner-to-corner blanket that was meant to spell out her son’s name. However, things did not quite go according to plan. Can you guess what happened?
Being able to crochet a beanie quickly came in very handy when Kelly’s family went away on a skiing trip.
Apart from crochet, Kelly loves outdoors and hiking, she is also part of a local hiking group.
I was happy when Kelly shared a few tips on how to take beautiful pictures just like hers. They are great tips to improve your photography.
Grab your crochet project, and crochet while you listen to the entire episode 23 on Youtube.
