In every episode of Nicki’s Crochet Podcast, Nicki reveals the most interesting crochet designer secrets. Episode 17 features Heather from The Unraveled Mitten.
I really enjoyed chatting to Heather from The Unraveled Mitten. We got to know a little more about her and her journey as a crochet blogger and designer.
You might have seen Heather’s wonderful designs before, but we have some juicy details that not everyone will know.
I’m so excited that Heather agreed to join me for my podcast called Nicki’s Crochet Podcast where I try to reveal crochet designer secrets and allow you to see designers from a totally different perspective.
You get to submit your questions, too. In fact, you can even request whom you would like me to interview in the future.

Summary of Episode 17 with Heather
Heather shared a great story about how she has come up with her fun crochet business name.
We shared a few similarities in our stories on how we began to crochet. She was taught by her grandmother.
She started with crocheting a hat as a baby shower gift. Although she had to overcome a few challenges, she made a hat in the end.
Heather started by selling finished products on Etsy. However, making the same item over and over was not for her.
She started to write her own patterns to sell and started a crochet blog where she shares free patterns and stitch tutorials.
Heather started by sharing a new stitch tutorial throughout National Crochet Month. These tutorials went viral and started a whole new chapter.
I was amazed at how many crochet-alongs Heather has organized and explored all the different techniques and stitches.
She gets inspired by different stitches in books and sewing quilts inspired by texture.
We spoke about techniques and projects Heather would like to explore and she admitted she is scared of this one project. Can you guess which one?
Heather reveals what her favorite project to design is and I have to say, it is my favorite project to work on too.
I was surprised when Heather shared what she thought she was going to be if she wasn’t a crochet designer.
Apart from crochet, Heather loves reading books and gardening in her spare time.
I loved Heather’s vision for her blog. She would love to have a website full of stitch tutorials which would be a great learning resource for beginner crocheters as well as designers.
I laughed when Heather shared “a few behind the scenes” because they sounded very familiar. She also shared a story involving her yarn and silly putty which made me laugh.
