This zipper pouch pattern features eye-catching geometric colorwork and a sturdy zippered design, this project is perfect for crocheters who love combining texture, color, and practicality in one stylish make.

This mosaic crochet zipper pouch is the perfect blend of beautiful colorwork and everyday practicality. The striking mosaic crochet design creates eye-catching geometric patterns that look intricate and impressive, while the canvas zipper pouch insert gives the finished project structure, durability, and a polished professional look.

One of the best things about mosaic crochet is how approachable it actually is. While the finished fabric looks complex, the technique is worked one row at a time using simple stitches and strategic color changes. It’s the kind of project that keeps you coming back for “just one more row” because you’re excited to see the pattern emerge.

This design is extra special because it’s part of the Mini Mystery Crochet Along (Mini MCAL), which means you’re joining a whole community of crocheters stitching together, sharing progress, and enjoying a little creative surprise along the way. Welcome and I can’t wait to show you the adventure and joy of mosaic crochet.

Mosaic Crochet Zipper Pouch Details

This zipper pouch is a versatile accessory and makes a great gift for yourself or a loved one. Use it to organize crochet hooks and notions, store makeup and toiletries, keep pens and pencils together, or tuck away everyday essentials inside a larger bag. The canvas zipper pouch insert eliminates the need for sewing a fabric lining from scratch, making this project both beginner-friendly and satisfying to complete.

If you’ve been curious about trying mosaic crochet, this pattern is a wonderful place to start as the project is smaller and less intimidating. The combination of simple stitches and bold colorwork creates a stunning finished piece without requiring advanced techniques. Watching the design unfold row by row is incredibly rewarding, and you’ll gain confidence in mosaic crochet while creating something genuinely useful.

Whether you’re new to mosaic crochet or already love the technique, this stylish zipper pouch is a fun project that will help you build your skills while making a handmade accessory you’ll use every day.

Mosaic Crochet Stitch Video Tutorial

Before starting your zipper pouch, I recommend watching the stitch tutorial video below. The pattern used to be part of the 2024 Advent Calendar MCAL.

Mosaic Crochet Zipper Pouch – Written Instructions

Pattern Notes:

Cut yarn after each row (for rounds drop the yarn after each color change – which is every round).

Always start on the same stitch. So for the righties start on the right.

Odd rows = Color A

Even rows = Color B

Blank Pixels (regardless of the color shown) = sc in blo

Pixels with an X = mdc (dc 2 rows down to same colored front loop)

Make sure to check out the stitch tutorial shown.

Pattern:

Ch 36, start from the 2nd ch from the hook, 1 sc in each chain (ideally in the back bump), turn 180 degrees and work on the other side of the chain, 1 sc per ch (70 sts)

Now start with the graph (or written pattern) and work each row 5 times for 70 sts per round from R2 to R21

Odd rows are white

Even rows are the ombre color
