This is a free cute reversible ear warmers crochet pattern made with simple basic crochet stitches. This is a great beginner pattern with a video tutorial.
I recently published a Reversible Diamond and Hearts Hat that became very very popular. Well, the reversible part was accidental but too pretty to not show off. So since that hat started trending I thought it would be fitting to turn this pattern also into ear warmers. This pattern is the 12th free crochet pattern of the Advent Calendar Mystery Crochet Along.
This elegant and handy gift pattern is the 12th pattern (December 12th) of the 24 patterns. It features diamonds on one side and hearts on the other side simply by using certain stitches in this reversible ear warmers pattern. I’m now thinking about crocheting fingerless gloves and a cowl with this same stitch. Should I?
This pattern as all the patterns in this Advent Calendar Mystery Crochet Along comes with a video tutorial to guide you through the pattern. This pattern’s yarn is Vanna’s choice and was provided by Lion Brand Yarns.

Pattern Notes
These pretty reversible crochet ear warmers are made in the round, switching between colors on certain rows to create the diamond/heart design. Be sure to pay attention to the color changes at the beginning of each row!
Instructions for the Crochet Reversible Diamond Heart Ear Warmers
R1: With White Ch 60, sl st the 1st and last ch together into a loop, then crochet 1 sc per ch all around (60 sts)
(Pattern is a multiple of 4, adjust the chain count to fit the head size you’re making it for)
W-R2: *1 sc, ch 6, sk 3 sts, repeat from * until the end of the round, sl st to the first st, then drop the color (don’t cut)
R-R3: attach new yarn, pushing the loops to the front and out of the way, 1 hdc on top of the 1st sc you made in the previous round, *1 dc in the next 3 sts (skipped stitches from the previous round), 1 hdc on top of the next sc, repeat from * until the end of the round, sl st to the first st, drop yarn (don’t cut)
Now you will keep switching between the 2 colors, dropping one of them each round and picking up the other one.
W-R4: sl st 3 chs to the center of the ch 6, *1 sc trapping the ch 6 to the center dc from the previous round, ch 6, sk 3 sts, repeat from * until the end of the round, sl st to the first st (the 1st sc), then drop the color (don’t cut)
R-R5: pushing the loops to the front and out of the way, 1 dc in the next 2 sts, 1 hdc on top of the 1st sc you made in the previous round, *1 dc in the next 3 sts (skipped stitches from the previous round), 1 hdc on top of the next sc, repeat from * until the end of the round, 1 dc in the last st, sl st to the first st, drop yarn (don’t cut)
W-R6: sl st 3 chs to the center of the ch 6, *1 sc trapping the ch 6 to the center dc from the previous round, ch 6, sk 3 sts, repeat from * until the end of the round, sl st to the first st (the 1st sc), then drop the color (don’t cut)
Repeat R3 – R6 one more time.
Then for the last round, crochet 1 sc per st, but every 4th st (the center dc st) “catch and trap” the hanging loop into a single crochet st, do this all around.
Fasten off and weave in your ends.
