Free Crochet Turtle Washcloth Pattern Made with EASY Squares

This adorable and fun crochet turtle washcloth crochet features 3 different stitches made as square washcloths and folded origami style. This free crochet pattern is made with cotton worsted-weight yarn.
If we’ll believe all the trend predictions then turtles will be very popular in 2024. But we don’t always have to make a turtle amigurumi pattern in order to have one quickly made. In fact, if you simply want to learn how to make fun animals, then crocheting squares and folding them up (think origami) is the best way to get started.
If you are totally into crochet trends and want to know more predictions for 2024, then check out this crochet trend predictions video.
This Sea Turtle folded from washcloth/dishcloth squares is not my first crochet animal washcloth. I also made a teddy bear washcloth and a reindeer washcloth. All of them make amazing gifts, bathroom decor, and spa box additions.
And if you are a visual learner, I also added a few video tutorials to learn the stitches needed to help you along with the written free pattern as well. This pattern used to be a mystery crochet along and is broken up like that accordingly.
It’s time to get creative, so let’s get started!

Wrap Squares into Turtle – Photo Tutorial
Wrap the large green square by rolling 2 opposite sides inwards to the middle.

Then fold and twist the inner points of each roll outwards like this:

Fold the small green square into an “ice cream cone” by folding 2 corners over each other to the middle.

Now place the “cone” between the green rolls.

Now roll the large brown square like the green one – 2 opposite sides to the middle.

Then fold the rolled edges inward.

Flip it over.

And roll it outwards.

Now place the folded brown “shell” on top of the green “body”.

Optionally add temporally googly eyes. You now have the perfect gift or display for your bathroom 🙂
