This quick crochet Santa coaster is a free Christmas crochet pattern that uses the thermal half double crochet stitch and a small amount of yarn.

It’s day 4 of our fun Advent Calendar Mystery Crochet Along. Each day, from December 1st until the 24th, I’ll release a post – one stitch tutorial on all odd days and one free pattern on all even days. Each day will be a fun holiday surprise for yarn lovers and the projects are perfect for Christmas gifts!

For the second pattern for this special event, after learning about the Thermal Half Double Crochet Stitch yesterday, we have the Crochet Santa Coaster pattern available free to view for you on this page. This is a quick-to-make project that is super useful too.

This pattern uses cotton yarn for durability and heat resistance, but it could also be made with acrylic yarn as long as you don’t use it underneath very hot beverages.

The thermal half double crochet stitch makes this coaster extra thick so it’s the perfect shield to protect your surfaces.

So let’s get started!
