This is a free crochet flower blanket pattern to feature my Granny’s Flower Garden. This pattern is divided into four parts which each include detailed video tutorials.

“Mind the flowers,” granny reminded me for the zillionth time as we stepped through her garden. And her garden had it all: foxgloves, carnations, lilies, gladiolus, begonias, poppies, roses, petunias, and some long, purple, fuzzy flowers that I didn’t know the name of just to name a few.

“How far does it go?” I asked again. I literally could not see the end of this field. Just how much land did granny own anyway?

She smiled her warm knowing smile. “As far as you like it to, dear. That’s the advantage of the dreamscape.”

If you want a warm blanket to snuggle into, try this crochet along. The crochet along is over, but the pattern is still available for free.

Believe it or not, but this blanket has been in the works for a lot longer than I want to admit. But that makes the experience of finishing it even more exciting and delightful.

This cute summer crochet flower blanket used to be a part of a crochet along. All parts are now available to make this beautiful crochet blanket at your own pace.

In order to make sure everyone will have the best experience possible, I decided to create a video tutorial for every part of the blanket. That includes the part where I show you how to block the squares which are acrylic yarn.

For that, I will you exactly how I did it with my steamer as well as the new BlockAll 812 Chetnanigans board with the perfector strips. Just wait until you see how it is done. These boards are pretty amazing and they are all handmade. As I have used other blocking accessories and tools before, I can promise you that there are no other ones like it.

Part 4 – Assemble and Sew Squares to Make a Crochet Flower Blanket

The Video Tutorial for Part 4 can be found below. It shows every step of the sewing part for this Pattern.

Now block all the squares using a blocking board such as Chetnanigans BlockAll 812 board and a steamer. I have a very detailed tutorial on how to exactly do this step HERE. It is really important to block your squares as my picture below demonstrates it. The left shows unblocked squares and the right shows blocked squares to 8×8 inches.

blocked vs not blocked acrylic crochet squares

Be sure to see the detailed tutorial where I show you how to exactly block any acrylic yarn, in this case for granny squares specifically.

Still using the Kelly Green yarn, start sewing all the squares together according to the diagram below. When you sew the squares together, make sure you go into and out of a V of the last round of stitches. That way you will hide the sewing stitch. Go from one of the squares to the next like a zig zag line (like you would for a mattress stitch). See the pictures in the back of the pattern for a better understanding.

After you finished sewing them all together, use the Sunflower yarn and crochet 1 dc in each st all around, making sure to add 2 dc, ch 1 and 2 dc in each corner.

Fasten off and weave in the ends.
