NOTE: I used the invisible sl st as a sl st. Watch the video tutorial to see how to do that.

w= white
r = red

Start with Red

Use a stitch marker for the continuous rounds.

R1: MR, ch 1, 6 sc, sl st to the first st (6 sts)

R2: 2 sc per st (12 sts)

R3: *1 sc, 2 sc in the next st, repeat from * until the end (18 sts)

R4: *1 sc in 2 sts, 2 sc in the next st, repeat from * until the end (24 sts)

R5: *1 sc in 3 sts, 2 sc in the next st, repeat from * until the end (30 sts)

R6: *1 sc in 4 sts, 2 sc in the next st, repeat from * until the end (36 sts)

R7-9: 1 sc per st, sl st to the first st

Cut red, switch to white

R10: * 1 sc, 1 spike st 1 row down, 1 spike st 2 rows down, 1 spike st 3 rows down, 1 spike st 2 rows down, 1 spike st 1 row down, repeat from * until the end, sl st to the first st, fasten off

Now, crochet the 2nd half of the ornament.

R1: MR, ch 1, 18 sc, sl st to the first st (18 sts)

Now crochet R4-10 of the 1st half of the ornament again for the 2nd half.

Add the ornament, sew the 2 halves together. Make sure to match the stitches, e.g. sc on top of sc, etc all around.

Fasten off and weave in ends.
