In every episode of Nicki’s Crochet Podcast, Nicki reveals the most interesting crochet designer secrets. Episode 1 features Tamara from the Moogly Blog.
The first time I met Tamara Kelly from Moogly was at Creativation in 2019. I for sure fangirled cause I learned a lot from Tamara when I first learned how to crochet and also how to become a successful designer. She has a lot of amazing designs and is currently in a partnership with Yarnspirations as one of their stitch ambassadors. She previously also worked with Lion Brand Yarns.
I’m beyond honored that Tamara wanted to be the first guest for my new podcast called Nicki’s Crochet Podcast where I try to reveal crochet designer secrets and allow you to see designers from a totally different perspective. You get to submit your questions, too. In fact, you can even request whom you would like me to interview in the future.

Summary of Episode 1
Tamara first starts out talking about a hilarious story about her daughter and how she came to call her blog Moogly. Her blog Moogly was also supposed to be a mommy blog, but then one of her crochet patterns took off and it changed the future of her blog forever.
Tamara also tried teaching her husband, who is working on the tech side of her blog, how to crochet. Well did she succeed? She revealed this at the beginning of the episode.
But even though we think Tamara has created and designed every possible pattern style, there are still a few she hasn’t tried. She even created a beautiful baby pattern that got the world into a lot of arguments but made us smile for sure.
Some crocheters like to snack while crocheting. Well, Tamara uses chopsticks to snack to prevent her crochet projects from getting dirty. Genius idea! I need to try that the next time! LOL
Furthermore, Tamara reveals that she is just like everyone else – YAY! – and has made mistakes in her crochet projects she had to hide very well in order to make sure they are not seen in the final images. And we will just not talk about the hidden ends we designers sometimes skip to weave in. LOL
Towards the end, I ask Tamara a few more fun questions, such as which actoress would be best to present her if her life would be turned into a movie, and if she could describe her family members as skeins.
I believe most of these answers will surprise you and will make you see Tamara in a different although amazing way! She is one of my favorite designers and she has incredible designs you should take a look at.
But Tamara revealed so many more interesting facts about herself, her family, and her blog. Grab your crochet project, and crochet while you listen to the entire episode 1 on Youtube.
