To start, let me now give you the supplies you need in order to crochet this easy pattern.
How to Tunisian Crochet Round Pillow
Materials you will need
- 8 mm Tunisian Crochet Hook, here are some options to get that I recommend:
- scissors
- tapestry needle
- Round Pillow (I used this one)
- Sew-on Snap Buttons (3-5 sets)
Gauge
2 V sts and space + TSS in between x 3 rows = 1 square inch
Size
18 x 6 inches for pillow
PLUS ruffle: 28 x 6 inches
Flat before sewing: 28 x 18 inches

Free Written Pattern for the Tunisian Crochet Round Pillow
The pillow is made first by crocheting a rectangle then you’ll add buttons to the first and last row along the pillow length then weave yarn through the area next to the pillow to create the ruffled edges. Optionally you can sew the first and last row together but then you can’t wash the crochet separately from the pillow insert.
Ch 76
R1 F: 1 TSS per st (forward pass)
R1 R: work stitches off the hook
R2 F: 1 TSS in the first stitch, 1 TFS in the next 2 spaces (between the stitches)
R2 R: Now let’s crochet the return pass (different than normal)
- Yarn over and pull through 1
- Yarn over pull through 3
- Yarn over pull through 2
- Repeat steps a and b until you have 2 loops left, yarn over and pull through 2 loops
Repeat R2 until you have 18 inches (or more in case your pillow is extra fluffy – check to make sure).
Sew buttons to the first and last row along the pillow length then weave yarn through the area next to the pillow to create the ruffled edges and make a bow. Optionally you can sew the first and last row together but then you can’t wash the crochet separately from the pillow insert.
