Waffle crochet stitches create a beautiful texture that’s perfect for blankets, sweaters, beanies, dishcloths and more.

I’m always on the hunt for fun and new crochet stitches for my crochet projects. While the waffle stitch may not be a new stitch, it’s one that I never get tired of.

I really love the waffle stitch for a few reasons:

  • For one, you don’t need to be a seasoned crocheter to make this stitch. This is one of those gold standard stitches that looks complicated but is actually surprisingly easy to master.
  • Second, it provides lots of nice texture making this the perfect stitch to use for warm projects like blankets and sweaters.
  • Lastly, the thick and textured nature of this stitch pattern makes it very sturdy so it’s great for all sorts of projects from dish cloths to socks to bags and beyond.

In this blog post, first I will teach you how to crochet the waffle stitch with an easy video tutorial. Then we’ll dive right in to our treasure trove of pattern inspiration so you can find the perfect waffle stitch pattern for your next project!
