The Snowflake Tapestry Bag is a free crochet pattern and made simply using 2 different colors. Plus it has a very sturdy and thick bag strap.

You see bags everywhere! Purses, over the shoulder bags, handbags and so many more. But what you don’t see often, is a simple bag with a special design on them. Eye-catching and so original. This bag shows off the winter weather so beautifully with a snowflake on the front and back.

If you are all about simple, elegant and unique bag patterns, then this free crochet bag is for you. It shows off an amazing tapestry design like no other. You just need 2 skeins of worsted weighted yarn and you are good to go.

    Jeans Yarn

For this Snowflake Tapestry Bag, I used Lion Brands Jeans yarn as it portrays the winter wonderland colors so amazingly.

This yarn is truly amazing and super soft. It doesn’t feel like jeans fabric, but it sure looks like it. Don’t you think?

    • sc = single crochet
    • sc in blo = single crochet in back loop only
    • ch = chain
    • sl st = slip stitch

    Instructions for Snowflake Bag:

This pattern starts from the bottom up and then has 1 row of single crochet stitches which you then crochet in round around it to make a bag. Finally, you will add a crocheted strap to finish it.

First, ch 42, 1 sc in each ch. You will now start with Round 1 and crochet in rounds around the just made row of sc.

Crochet 1 sc in the back loop only for each st (continuous rounds). Change colors as mentioned. D = Dark Blue, L = Light Blue

Start a Tapestry Bag first row and round

    The Strap

Now you just need to add the bag strap.

You will loop your dark blue yarn such that it turns into 3 strands (Tutorial for that is HERE). Now crochet 3 sc stitches back and forth in rows to create a strap. I made it 108 rows long. But you can make it shorter or longer.

Now, with your tapestry needle, sew the strap to the other side.

Now, fasten off and weave in your ends.

You can now also add a lining and a zipper. I have a tutorial that will help you with that right here.

That’s it! Now you can keep this beautiful Snowflake Tapestry Bag for yourself, OR you can gift, sell or donate this pretty bag.
