We’ve arrived at Day 17 of this year’s Advent Calendar Mystery Crochet Along! The CAL keeps unfolding in its familiar 3-day pattern. A giveaway, a stitch tutorial, then a free pattern featuring the previous day’s stitch. This cycle repeats right up to Christmas eve.
The Crochet Tinsel Stitch is perfect for adding a festive, Christmas touch to your projects. It is easy, simple, fun, and textured, and works beautifully in blankets, scarves, or decorations.
I also love using it in my three patterns, fingerless gloves, a mug cozy, or a tablet cover. I show you how to make it step by step in my tutorial and patterns so you can create your own cheerful, textured crochet.

You’ll find easy written instructions paired with a complete video tutorial, so learning this stitch is simple even if it’s your first time. I explain every step so you can follow along at your own speed.
