DAY 2 of the Valentine’s CAL

Stuffed Heart

This pattern is so cute and perfect for pretty much anyone. I used Bernat Blanket yarn, but you could use any other yarn, just be aware to use a smaller or lager hook (depending on which yarn you pick) and realize that the heart either shrinks or gets bigger than for what I wrote it for. The reason why I used Bernat Blanket yarn is because I love how soft it is, it is so perfect for a stuffed heart. Snuggly 🙂

Instructions:

We start on top where the two peaks of the heart are, but we make one peak at the time and then connect the two to finish up the heart.

Peak 1:

Magic ring, 6 sc, close up ring, sl st to first sc (6 sts)

Round 1: Ch 1, 2 sc into each st, sl st to first sc (12 sts)

Round 2: Ch 1, *2 sc into the same st, 1 sc into the next st, repeat from * all around, sl st to first st (18sts)

Round 3: Ch 1, 1 sc into each st, sl st to first st (18 sts), fasten off

Peak 2:

Repeat instructions as Peak 1, but do not fasten off at the end

Connecting the 2 peaks:

Left picture shows how to connect the two peaks, right picture shows after the 6sc connecting the two peaks.

Round 4: Hold the two peaks so that the same side of each face the same direction, but consider that you are working towards the tip of the heart.

Now Ch 1 and connect the two peaks by doing 6 sc by going thru both peaks, then you will place 1 sc into each stitch by finishing the round around both peaks making a big circle that almost looks like a peanut, sl st to the first sc that did not connect the 2 peaks (after the 6 connecting sc between the 2 peaks). (24st for the round, 6 st to connect the 2 peaks)

Left: different angle as previews photo, right: after first 12 sc around one peak

Left: going from right peak to left peak to continue the additional 12 so’s, right picture (and picture below) is after finishing the other peak with 12 sc, having 24 sc in the round.

Round 5: Ch 1, 1 sc into each st all around, sl st to first sc (24 sts)

Round 6: Ch 1, 1 sc in to the next 6 sts, 1 sc dec, 1 sc in to the next 11 sts, 1 sc dec, 1 sc in to the next 3 sts, sl st to first sc (22sts)

Round 7: Ch 1, *1 sc dec, 1 sc into the next 2 sts, repeat from * all around, 1 sc dec for the last 2 sts, sl st to first st (16 sts)

Round 8: Ch 1, *1 sc dec, 1 sc into the next st, repeat from * all around, 1 sc in the last st, sl st to first st (11sts)

Fill heart with polyfill

Round 9: Ch 1, sc dec all around, 1 sc in the last st, sl st to first st (6 sts)
